Husband had interview and he got the 221 slip which requests a sponsor or further proof of my income (I am the usc)

because I own a business that grosses more than $100,000 a year but my adjusted net is below poverty (great CPA) I do own a home in CA but because of the market I am upside down with the mortgage. I am in a pickle! I emailed and called my cpa and of course my 2008 taxes can be adjusted but I will pay alot of taxes to do that! Has anyone of you delt with this? Can anyone think of another way? No one I know is going to sponsor us so that is not an option

If you do that now, it may look to them that you lied on your taxes. I suggest you get a co-sponsor.

If you will adjust your net income and they will see discrepancies, they may think that you have done it so you won't be paying a large amount for your taxes (?). My husband also have his own business and what he did with his CPA and what we had submitetd was his Profit and Loss Statement and letter from his CPA; Federal Income Tax; California State Income tax; IRS e--file; and also the projected Profit and Loss for the Current tax year (before our interview).

But just for any worst case scenarios, a co-sponsor will be your best alternative. Good Luck.

Do you have a lot of people in your household, or a lot of employees? How on earth can your business gross more than 100K, yet your AGI be less than 21K (for a household of 4)? Its not a matter of having a great CPA, because based on the little you've stated it looks like your not declaring sufficient income to avoid paying taxes on it.

Going back and changing your most recent tax return would just make it look like you're covering up, and prompt the question in the CO's mind, of which version is correct. I would suggest sending personal bank statements for the past year showing the amount of funds in the account, but if these sums differ from what you wrote in the petition then than could be a problem. Truly, I would look very hard into finding a co-sponsor.

I show and claim all of my income. It is clearly listed on my return. I just have alot of write offs and losses from things. I am no way near poverty level. I had to qualify for a $400,000 mortgage somehow on my own so it makes little sence from that standpoint.

np mortgage pay out slip - meaning selling price of home vs what is or was owed.

In the UK i believe they call it a redemption statement.

Best of luck to you

Good quest. from what I can tell...some times (interviewed dependent) they over look deductions and the net taxable income and instead accept your gross and mortgage, credit etc.... but our interviewer went by the book "so to speak" We got the "super interviewer"LOL...oh well...hopefully someone else will read this and know what I did not before hand and avoid problems. We can fix this. Thank God my husband is somcalm and objective. I was a mess yesterday but he was like "no problem" we can fix this. :)

martini olive...got a question.. why didn' NVC ask for this???
