I still have a hard time understanding what is relative though when it comes to metric. With temperature, I realize 90 degrees is hot but if someone said "its going to be 32C today.." I would know exactly HOW hot that would be. Does that make any sense?

I feel the exact same way... It's hard for me to catch on to the U.S. system - miles, farenheight, LBS instead of KGS!

Not me...always hated the metric system, I'm glad I don't need to try to think what 30 in celcius is anymore.

I think not converting is the key. At first I converted everything. Then I realized that was so time consuming, and that I should just learn Farenheit. Now I don't use the metric anymore usually. It's easier to just "while in Rome..."

I'm happy to be back to fahrenheit again. I grew up on the old system and was never taught metric.... so I never got it to begin with. I do remember my children (when they were young) asking me one day how long something was and I said "About an inch." They said "Oh" and then paused and asked "Mommy.... what's an inch?"

There's an entire generation of us that are still inching our way thru the metric system! I started out school learning imperial measurement, then we switched to metric and boy did we get confused!

That's why folks of a certain age in Canada refer to distance in how long it takes to get there, rather than in miles or kms. And I'm 162 cm tall, but I couldn't tell you my weight in kilos if my life depended on it. Even at the doctor's offices, its all over the place. Measure height in cm and weight in lbs. No wonder my generation was so messed up! :P

Or if you live in NJ, they measure distance by Turnpike Exit numbers hee hee...
