Traffic lights!!

I now the rule back in Canada is when the traffic lights are out, it turns into a 4 way stop!! I would assume (ya always bad to assume) that it is the same here, but by judging from the powerless traffic lights in from of our building I guess not!! lots of honking and near accidents. Could make for an interesting night, lol

Well, I suspect it is just American drivers! Here in Georgia when the power is out and traffic lights not working it is supposed to act like a four way stop - and the media post reminders to that effect. Still, there are always those who don't know how to drive through 4 way stops either.

I was coming back from groceries. Stopped. Everyone else stopped. Was my turn to go, EXCEPT for this cabbie coming at full tilt (no stopping at all) luckily I was cautious and crawled out, otherwise it would not have been pretty!! I raised my arms, as in what the hell, and he nicely gave me the finger!! Should have taken down the cab #, wouldnt have done any good!! lol

That's brutal! I've noticed they are more agressive and less civil when it comes to driving down there. They don't let you in to change lane, and they don't wave when you let them in. It's just like a jungle. That's the price we have to pay for falling in love with Americans, lol.. It makes me nervous thinking I will have to drive on CA freeways pretty soon.

I have lived in pretty small towns/cities. prince Albert Sk around 30,000, Victoria BC around 200,000 ttl?? Greenwood NS 4500. So the big city freeways take a bit to get used to. Drove awhile in downtown New York a few yrs back, man that was fun!! lol One has to be a bit aggressive, yet defensive when driving. I assume al others are idiots and proceed with caution!! lol I'm no great driver by no means, but I tryt to follow the laws fore the most part. i'm sure the posted sign of 55 means 70!! lol

I live in Calgary, and it is pretty busy on the roads here, especially rush hour, gets really crazy, but people are still civil for the most part.

Talking about cars, do you know if I need the actual car title to register my car in the US or a letter from the registry stating that there is no lien on the car is sufficient? I am about to pay off my car, and the bank told me they don't issue the title, just the letter the car is paid off. And then I called Alberta Government and they also said they don't issue it either. Strange.

I'm not sure with regards to your car. I sold mine prior to moving down! I recall getting a letter stating the loan was paid off, and that was about it. Friends bought the car and I know their bank did a lien search--which of course their was none. Best of luck. 2-0 for caroline after the 1st period!! 4hrs later, they have a crew working on the lights!

I should have sold mine too, but decided to keet it, and it proves to be a major pain getting compliance letter, paying it off, figuring out about a title, etc....

Well Senka I hope you get your car woes worked out I am not sure what I will do about my car either when I go, may leave it behind with my mother so he has a better car.

LOL!

This topic has truly made me laugh today. Reason being, when I was in Chicago at the beginning of May, one of my first comments to my Honey when I arrived home (his, hopefully soon to be mine too ) was, "I didn't need Ontario plates for people to know I'm Canadian!". Driving through Chicago was ridiculous (remember, this is coming from someone who lives an hour west of T.O....and I thought it was bad there). People don't use their signal lights, no one lets anyone in, it's all about them and no one else on the road matters. And here I was, the happy, polite Canadian, letting people in, turning on my signal light to change lanes (not that it helped me get over at all)....here's hoping someday I can handle driving there!
