Hello,

I was just wondering if anyone else has had a problem finding their receipt number on the USCIS website; my wife had a biometrics appointment back in August, and we haven't heard anything since regarding the "removal of conditions" interview. I realize this isn't a long time(at all) by USCIS standards, but what bothers me is that their website doesn't even have a record of the receipt number that was on the appointment letter. Also, has anyone experienced a long delay between their biometrics appointment and the interview?

Any input would be appreciated,

Thanks

For the most part there is NO interview for removal of conditions, this has been the case for quite some time now.

Give it some time for USCIS to add the petition number to the on-line system.

I-751 can take up to a year or more to process, the NOA-1 letter extends your status for a Year.

FAQ:

7.7) ..Is there another interview required to lift my conditional status?

A..All though the vast majority of jointly filed I-751s do not have an interview, you may indeed be required to attend an interview. Some files are selected for a sort of quality control check on the system, and may be transferred to the Local Office for interview. These cases may receive an RFE from the local office, and then find that the interview is cancelled. There is also a growing number of people being called for interviews (4/07) and there is a suspicion among the online community that PRs who did not have an AOS interview (via transfer to CSC or via the DORA program) may be automatically put in the interview queue for I-751.

If your NOA receipt number won't work at their website, try your ASC applicant number to check your case status online.

Our NOA number doesn't work; but the NOA number on the biometrics letter does. Try that.

Hi Jethro7

You should be able to see your I-751 case status update online with the receipt number on your biometrics letter (it worked for me). Keep on trying that receipt number on their website system, remembering to type it in correctly as stated. If it doesn't work online, then try giving the USCIS a phone call to see if you can get your case status update by phone instead.

As for an interview for the I-751, this is quite rare, and not done for all cases. The reasons why one might be called for an interview is if: 1) the case is questionable 2) for random quality-control/lottery purposes. Even though you might not be called for an interview, you should still prepare for it just in case they do call you in for one.

Hope this helps. Good luck on your immigration journey.

Hey Ant...we're having the same problem with the Biometrics letter receipt number. I've gotten some PMs from others who get the same error message also. Appointment is this Saturday, but we'll keep checking online status. Maybe they're freaking out up there over their stock investments and only working half days. Who knows?

Hi GinFar,

Good luck on your upcomming biometrics appointment this Saturday. If many others are having the same problem as you are, then it could just be a system error thing, and not just your case alone. Yes, do keep on trying your status online with your biometrics receipt letter (maybe try the NOA one too). Try typing it in without any spaces, the first three letters in capital letters, followed by the rest of the numbers, as mentioned. Who knows, maybe they'll update your number after your biometrics. Also, sign up for an online update (portfolio/e-mails) with the USCIS, to see when they updated and touched it too. Lol...to tell you the truth, there isn't much of an update, other than they are still processing it.....

As I said before, worst case scenerio, you can phone the USCIS for your case update. Nah, I don't think it it stock related, as it seems as though they're always working on half days, since the cases are so slow at the VSC...

Good luck on checking your case, and the rest of the journey...

Hi Mandy2008,

Likewise, good luck on your biometrics appointment on Saturday for you too. And who knows, maybe they'll update your case after you get your biometrics done. Meanwhile, keep on trying with the online system, as they might have the bugs figured out by then.

Worst case, you can try calling them by telephone for a case update too.

Though as I said before, lol..there isn't much of an update, other than they're still processing the case....

Good luck with the checking, biometrics, and with the rest of your journey too.

For those of us who are having problems getting case status online info, I found this on the www.uscis.gov site. Also, cannot add the receipt number to the portfolio because the same error message comes up. So now, we know it's not us. The notice says that there's a 3 to 4 week delay from the summer, but I'm guessing it's much more than that.

I say no worries  . We'll get there.

Hi,

My case status online works ok, but the problem is that nothing has changed since April'08. I filled the I 751 on time, got a letter I 797C, notice of Action where I was invited to an biometrics appointment on 04.29.08.

Since the day I got the biometrics taken, my online status is showing the same:

Application Type: CRI89, PETITION TO REMOVE CONDITIONS OF PERMANENT RESIDENT STATUS RECEIVED

Current Status: This case is now pending at the office to which it was transferred.

I have never received a filling receipt just the biometrics invitation.

I hear other people got a I 797C receipt saying: I-797C Notice of Action "Your alien card is extended one year - employment and travel authorized." Keep the receipt with your green card"

Should I be worried as none of these two appliely to me?

Has anybody expierienced the same situation?

Thanks,

I'll bet you filed at Texas before they sent out the notice about Texas no longer doing I-751s and all of the applications being transferred to Vermont.

From early February to the end of May files that were sent to Texas (and eventually transferred to Vermont) did not receive an NOA extension letter. There was a glitch in the computer system of which USCIS was aware and it took quite a while for them to fix. Some people have received an NOA retroactively but the majority have not. I filed the end of February, have requested the NOA letter twice and have never received it. I did, however, go to the local USCIS office and get the I-551 stamp placed in my passport, which provides proof that my status was extended for one year.

I also received the biometrics letter for April and after the biometrics, my file was touched 3 days in a row and then nothing until 3 weeks ago. My file was touched on September 10. I suspect it might be the security check coming back.

If you fit the above criteria, then yes, your situation is normal. You may wish to make an infopass appointment at your local USCIS office to get the I-551 stamp placed in your passport as well. You will need either an unexpired passport and your expired green card, or an expired passport, your expired green card and 2 passport photographs. In the latter case, they will issue an I-94 that extends your status for a year and place that in your expired passport. You can make an Infopass appointment at www.uscis.com - on the right hand side is an option to 'Schedule an appointment'.

Vermont - which is where the Texas files were transferred - is currently taking 10 to 14 months to approve I-751s so you are probably looking at your approval sometime early in the new year. Your file may or may not be touched before that time.

Hope this helps.
