Additional info for Affidavit of Support?

Hi All,

Just two weeks to go before our London interview. Hardest two weeks of my life, I swear!

Anyway, we want to cross all the t's and dot all the i's, etc. etc.... so I was wondering about the affidavit of support. I sent my fellow the form, notarized, w2's, employer letters, tax transcripts, assets statements, everything. I make well over the poverty threshold (thank god), have plenty of assets, so elected not to have a co-sponsor. I think we'll be ok there.

Just wondering if HE might need to fill out his own form for self-support? Would rather not have to do that at this late hour, but would it be better to have it?

Of course, the irony here is that the US Government is about to throw $700 billion at multi-millionare financiers on Wall Street, and here we are pulling our hair out with worry because Uncle Sam so clearly says, he will not accept K1 holders as wards of the state. Sheesh. I guess if you're gonna beg, you've gotta beg BIG!

The directions included with I-134 are very old, USCIS has no reason to update them since USCIS has no application for that form.

The consulates tend to treat the I-134 like a mini-I-864 as so prefer the same financial evidence as the I-864.

In our case this what the I-134 included.

• I-134 signed and notarized.

• SIMPLE Tax transcripts from the IRS for past 3 years, (Redundant for the (1040,W2,1099) but are free from the IRS http://www.irs.gov/faqs/faq1-6.html

• Photo copy of IRS form 1040, and W2s for past 3 years (Not necessary if you provide the transcripts)

• Letter from my employer stating annual salary, job responsibility, and that is full time, on company letterhead.

• Photo copies of past month or so of pay stubs up to a few weeks before the interview.

My income was well above the povertyline so I did not include any asset data (LIKE BANK STATEMENTS or property values).

If your income exceeds 125% of the povertyline when counting yourself, prospective immigrant and any dependents, then don't bother with assets (401K, Bank balance, Stocks etc..), it is just extra un-needed data to provide, the consular officer is most concerned with INCOME.

I had all the basics for Stevens I-134 at my interview she gave me back his W2's , asked sepcifically for his tax transcripts and his letter from employer (as she wanted to know how much he made) , we didnt have bank statements.

someone correct me if I am wrong but you sound absolutely fine, assuming you aren't claiming on only assets, property etc; and make over the guideline (which by the way is 100%, so even better you are 125% like we were) they will only take employer letters & tax transcripts.

We took a Co-sponser just because we had extra time, didn't even bother showing it to the lady.

Thanks all! Since my income is well above the poverty threshold, sounds like we'll be ok.

Now, if I can only speed time to make October 14th get here faster!!!!!!!!

Do you have to submit tax transcripts and stuff? I thought that was for self employed only. Reason I ask is because Tom is overseas and he said something about it'll be hard to get them.

You gotta show and back up what your saying so the tax transcripts are easy to get - you can call the IRS and get (if you need number and prompts pm me please) but they will be mailed to address on record me thinks!

Tax transcripts can be used in leiu of W-2's and 1040 - its just easier but for self employed yes on the transcripts since some of us dont have clients that issue 1099's for every job we do. That is my reason for the transcripts.

Thanks Susie. The I-134 instructions must be out of date then as they only ask for a bank letter, employment letter and pay stubs if you work for a company. You'll have to forgive my ignorance but I have no idea what W-2's, 1040's and 1099's are! Google calls.

Hi hun,

You should be ok with those docs, but ya know sometimes having more than they ask is better - im sorry you are on the I129f so its a bit different but again, as we learned, better to have more than less. Dont worry hun you will be fine.

The letter from employer, paystubs etc should be good, my bad, but again, just trying to make sure they dont get a bug up their ####### with the economy sorta falling down right now and wanting your first born before your married.
