Saudi and UAE announced tomorrow, that's what we'll be going by!

http://www.gulfnews.com/nation/Heritage_an...e/10248657.html

Dang... now I'm confused! I was going w/ Wednesday (according to moonsighting.com) but am really tempted to go w/ tomorrow w/ Saudi (I started w/ Saudi) - maybe it's just b/c I'm really hungry today and right now don't know if I can handle the rest of today, much less tomorrow also  .

It's absolutely beyond a doubt physically impossible for the Saudis to have seen the moon today. The only place it was visible was on some islands in the south pacific. If it were actually a legitimate sighting, then I would say go ahead if that's how you roll. But knowing how suspect it is, I can't say I'd go that way.

Well, for what it's worth, whenever it's over and the fat lady (or now, slim and trimmed Ramadan fasting chick) sings, I hope you all have a wonderful Eid - and that you clog your little arteries out with all the good dishes.:jest::dance::jest::dance::jest: I'd really love to be in Algeria eating all the great French-style cakes and pastries that they have there.

Is it me or is it hard to feel Eid if you are the only muslim around and you are working? My husband called and sounded excited and I felt like saying "Bah Humbug" because there is no difference between Eid and any other day. I don't even have muslims to celebrate with and he doesn't understand that its meaning is lost to me. I have never even seen Eid celebrated though I was in the middle east for Eid last year. I was so sick that I laid in bed for days and missed anything that might have happened.

Cooking doesn't make sense if I don't eat much anyway and the only other relative I have nearby is my father. Usually no matter what I cook we have left overs for two days, lol. No sense in expanding that problem though maybe we can go out to eat, that would be a change (yes Julianna, I am stealing that from you).

Hmmm, I found this on moonsighting.com about Saudi. It appears Saudi is totally off and wrong, but will not admit it and other countries just follow what Saudi does. Here is the statement:

Official Decision and Announcement of the High Judiciary Council of Saudi Arabia: Since the moon of Shawwaal was sighted this evening, here in Saudi Arabia, we shall be completing twenty nine (29) days of Ramadhaan. Subsequently, we shall be celebrating 'Eed al-Fitr on Tuesday 30th September 2008, inshaa.-Allaah

Comment by Moonsighting.com: It was impossible to see the moon in Saudi Arabia. The moon set before sunset and moon age was only less than 7 hours.
