Because they request documents and evidence of relationship, are we suppose to put our documents in a folder or binder for our interview?

Do they keep all of our evidence of relationship? Ex: Cards, e-mails, pictures?

Last question: My fiance will be coming with me to the Consulate. Is he allowed in with me for the interview or does he sit in some waiting room?

Thank you for all your help everyone. I'm really nervous..

I gave the Consulate only copies of cards, emails etc. I brought the originals of course, in case they had to see them. I had an accordian folder with tabs at the top outlining what was in each pocket. (ie BC, police report, emails, greeting cards, affadavit of support, NOA2 etc. )

Your fiance is welcome to attend the interview with you. I don't know about Montreal, but in Vancouver, there was no room. Just a teller like window that you walked up to. He can attend that actual interview with you. Lots of times the interviewer and fiance get into a discussion about his work, favourite sports teams etc. hehe Very casual.

Best of luck on your interview!

I used the same method. An accordion folder with tabs so that when the interviewer asked something, it was easy for me to get. I figure the more messy you look, the m ore stressed out you seem trying to find documents during the interview, the worse it can be.

"...My hair's mostly wind,

My eyes filled with grit

My skin's white then brown

My lips chapped and split

I've lain on the prairie and heard grasses sigh

I've stared at the vast open bowl of the sky

I've seen all the castles and faces in clouds

My home is the prairie and for that I am proud…

If You're not from the Prairie, you can't know my soul

You don't know our blizzards; you've not fought our cold

You can't know my mind, nor ever my heart

Unless deep within you there's somehow a part…

A part of these things that I've said that I know,

The wind, sky and earth, the storms and the snow.

Best say that you have - and then we'll be one,

For we will have shared that same blazing sun." - David Bouchard

It's actually a room in Montreal.. there were two chairs (and the interviewer is behind glass) and we both went in. The interviewer asked mostly questions of me, but did involve Hubby.. agreed, very very laid back. They have all your info at that point, so it's probably 99% complete, they just ask a few questions and off you go!

I used an accordion folder as well - worked like a charm.

Yes - come prepared...we separated originals and copies for them. I must have checked that accordian folder a zillion times before we arrived :)

The waiting area in Montreal is really quite large, several wickets for various types of VISA's I think, plenty of room and the interview room was more then fine - it was me, my daughter and my then fiance and we certainly weren't crowded. bathrooms available...although you're scared to go in case they call your number!

It's stressful, but once done and approved (yes, I know there are still some bumps in the road for some) , you walk out and it's kind of weird... rather anti-climactic IMO

I did the same thing. They definitely seemed to give us an easier time because we were so extraordinarily organized. The other two couples interviewing that day had to search for stuff and weren't sure what they even had with them. Organization makes the officers happy. :)

See my timeline for my K-1 and AOS/EAD/AP details.
