Has anyone doing the K-1 process with a Cuban wired money? Please tell me how it is done!!! I have received some remarks, and reply is below, but I am sure someone has gone through this and can help. The countdown is on...he should be here in 8 days!!!---Karena

Yes, I just want to send a small amount. He has to pay exit fee in Havana, which he can, but he is flying to jamaica with a 5 hour layover and then to New York. In this day and age when you never know what could cuase a MAJOR delay on a flighrt, an airport could shut down for a few hours becuase of a threat, etc. most likely nothing will happen, but no one wants to fly with nothing in their pocket. It is really "insurance" in case of emergency. I SPECIFICALLY need to know what the one time process is for a K-1 petitioner who wants to send $$$ to Cuba needs to do. I d not need to be questioned as to what he needs the $$$ for. The point is to make sure he gets here safely, not to "load him up with money

I think Western Union is in his town of Trinidad, Cuba

western union or moneygram?

Sorry my response wasn't popular, Venezuela sucks too with that exit fee, we did give our daughter extra money for that, but she is careless and spent it. Her mom got frustrated with her and said stay there. But she contacted friends to loan her the money, and our next trip down there, we will pay them back. Did try sending a hundred bucks down there, not easy dealing with corrupt banks and a corrupt government, that money never got to my party. So if you can find a way, also interested.

I also know the feeling of being flat broke coming from a broken home, but grew up in a country where if you worked and studied hard, could make something of yourself. Hard to believe that after close to 50 years, Castro is still in power, don't believe he is getting help from the Soviets anymore. Suppose your guy doesn't have any friends or relatives that can help him.

I use to travel a lot, nothing worse than getting food poisoning on an airline, so just don't eat or drink, can't even use the restroom when you want to, hasn't killed me

Hmmm, was checking on airline rates for Venezuela last night and the exit fee was part of the ticket. Now wondering what my daughter was talking about, either she was taken at the airport or used that as an excuse as she was dead broke, can believe that. Her food and housing was taken care of. Doesn't your ticket cover the exiting fee for Cuba, or can it? Something to check on. Seems awkward to have to send money to some 3rd country that either Venezuela or Cuba recognizes, but seems to be the only way.

What's not easy is to sleep in an ice cold leaky pup tent in sub freezing temperatures and eat frozen K-rations out of a can, but that is what my country expected out of me and many like me. Or to be constantly eaten by mosquitoes in a hot humid climate. Isn't your guy eating now? Can he pack a lunch? Just trying to offer some suggestions, I know it's frustrating.
