hey all, my son went apple picking yesterday and now I have a flat of fresh fall apples sitting on my counter. Anybody have any recipe suggestions> besides the norm apple pie or crumble? I'm thinking maybe an apple cake or even homemade applesauce? plus, something easy because I have a sick crabby baby and I'm not feeling so good myself.

ideas? recipes?

Wow!!! I love fresh picked apples! I have a great Apple/Carrot/Ginger pie that is a little different from your basic apple pie and my other favorite thing to do is to bake them (even quickly in the microwave) w/ some butter/brown sugar/cinnamon (and/or ginger). I recently made baked apricots w/ a ginger whipped cream on top - bet it would be yummy w/ the apples too. I'm also quite fond of apples baked w/ prunes.....

I just returned from shopping - Eid Mabruk to myself!!! :whistle: Bessahat.... Yaatick Assahat :lol: Got some new jeans and some new "under gear" and a cute top... oh!oh!oh! and some schmancy shoes!

The prescription cat food is because she has irritable bowl syndrome and has been throwing up every other day. I'll get her some more good wet food though to do the pill in.

Sara I just made apple pie and the whole house smells yummy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I don't have any unusual recipes though but I do put Red Hots in my apple sauce to give it that lil umph.

Hubby fell asleep around 4am and had to be at work by 11am. He wanted to go food shopping with me after but I figured I would suprise him so I went myself, cleaned up the house a bit and baked an apple pie so when he got home he just had to shower pray and now is settled into a nap until 6pm. :luv: I love taking care of him. He does so much for me. I haven't done laundry in about a month! I love my husband!!! :yes:

kelz, LOVE the new pix of zaid! he's uber adorable! I really like the first one with his hand over his eyes while he's got his bottle. *sigh* I miss those days!

amal...zaid sleeps with 2 fingers plugged into his mouth and he pinches his eyes REAL tight with his other hand...he is a very dramatic child...sending a pic now via blackberry mms...

He sure is growing up fast isnt he? I call him Mr Blue Eyes, he thinks its funny

Sara...I LOVE amirahs dimples, its like she has so many they come together...one day when zaid thins up we will be able to see his dimples...

noura I am curious about the ginger whipped cream - did you use crystallised ginger or what?

no, I used freshly grated ginger and then expressed the juice from it. It was really easy (came from Martha Stewart's Everyday Food magazine).
