I have a question about my husbands ss card. He now has his EAD. Does he have to wait until his green card is issued before he can get a normal ss card? (one that does not have the message, unable to legally work, until department of home land security gives authorization) Or something to that effect. Or can he apply for a new one, now that he has his EAD and is legally able to work?

Thanks

I don't think you can change it until he gets the green card. The EAD card is the authorization from Homeland Security.
