Hi Everyone,

Hmmmm....In our household, I (the non-USC wife) does the cooking and and my husband (the USC) does the dishes. Lol...I'm a disaster when it comes to doing the dishes, as I can never get them cleaned to my husband's standards. And likewise, my husband's cooking can't meet my standards. I'd rather just cook, and he'd rather just clean, and we're both happy with that. Though at times we've been known to switch, as my husband makes better spaghetti than I do and I don't mind cleaning the odd dish once in awhile..lol....

Fair is fair, right? So in this way we both have equal responsibilites in the kitchen, as I do my part cooking and my husband does his part cleaning the dishes. As well, we both do the grocery shopping and kitchen stuff shopping together, so that's fair too.

Likewise with other chores around the house, we share equally, by each of us doing a part of it and/or doing it together.

I must say I'm jealous of all of you. We dont have 50/50, maybe we have 99/1 (he can toast bread, lol).

My hubby gets home at 4pm, while I get home at 5:30-6 or maybe even 7. He thinks its not unreasonable to wait until then to start cooking something. If I'm tired from work, he's all "lets go to chili's, or a burger, or some type of fast food".

If I bring up the conversation of asking him to cook something (and I'm not asking for some wow meal, just anything), he says "well I dont ask or require you to cook, why are you making me cook" and we either end up in a huge arguement or back to his theory that fast food is just the way to go.

How would you respond to that? Help :(

I work 6/7 evenings a week, so never cook. Hubby will cook for himself.

And I don't get home from work until 8:30-9:30pm, so it's usually a Hardees/White Castle/McDonald's/Taco Bell night for me. Can't figure out why I've gotten so fat lately.....

Even on the days we have off together, neither Mags or I cook; as in cook a meal for the whole family. Her schedule is all wacked, so I'm getting ready for lunch while she's eating breakfast. The only time we eat together these days is if we go out. That's been happening less and less too, thanks to the wonderful economy.

On the plus side, I've discovered the joy of Trader Joe's. Best grocery store ever! All kinds of foods with no ####### - no HFCS, no artificial flavours/colours, etc. Not *too* expensive, either.

Trader Joe's! Try their ketchup...it tastes the way Heinz ketchup used to taste like...tangy and not so sweet. :)

And their BBQ sauce is awesome, their Indian foods are great, their cookies are AWESOME (a little too much so), and the employees are uber-friendly.

Lady, people aren't chocolates. Do you know what they are mostly? Bastards. ####### coated bastards with ####### filling. But I don't find them half as annoying as I find naive bobble-headed optimists who walk around vomiting sunshine.

Generally me (non USC citizen) because i was home all day long, now i found a job (there are 2 days), but i will continue because i work less than him.But my husband is able to cook, so when i don't cook anything he prepares some salads to eat.

I love to cook, so i'm not disturbed by that, my husband loves to eat, so it's marvellous  ; my concern is for the dishes, hubby eats too much, but he is not reluctant to do the dishes.

If not, he cleans, does the laundry....., and i expect that today when he will go back, he won't be furious because i break one of the kitchen tool in melanine (i don't know the name).

I don't complaint he is very helpful and supportive

Have you tried the save money and healthier food approach? Some kind of neutral ground. You could tell him that you are trying to lose weight but because you work so many long hours, you are too tired to cook when you get home! :)

In this tedious process, we tend to forget that this is all worth it.

I love my hubby beyond anything in this world.
