Hello all.....

Well, here is my story very briefly....

In 2006 I met Anna who is from Southern Russia. We very soon met face to face and needless to say I racked up quite a few frequent flyer miles and was filling up many pages in my passport. Over the days and months we became very close and I proposed to her in Sochi . To both of us it was like a dream come true and we were so in love. We soon filled out the K-1. As we got closer to approval we became more apart and had more and more problems. Some were workable and some we were not able to work through. In then end it came down to our Religious differences and our lack of compromise to each other. I was as guilty as she was. So, soon we called things off and our K-1 was cancelled. She had interview date in Moscow and was probably with in 30 days of getting an approval. We never really broke off our communication totally. We have learned a lot about one another since then, than we did prior. We both have dated others since that time. Now we come to our current time. In the past 6 months or so things Have of sorts increased. We are venturing about getting back together and go through the process one final time. Its funny because as I have dated in my home country I have looked back at my time with her and have realized that my love for her was most likely stronger than I had personally realized. At no such time have we had any hurdles with language and culture. I laugh because for those that are not or never have been involved with someone from another country automatically think that is and will always be the problems. When we first met I was totally against considering living in her home country. I , now am more than willing if we could. In a nutshell I think that its this....We were unwilling to compromise and fought on things that in the big picture were not life threatening. The other and very big thing was that I was listening to all of my friends that just could not understand why I would want to be involved with anyone that was not in my same town.

So, I ask this....Have any of you experienced and gone thru with something like this and is this a smart decision and or thought.

With all of that we had talked about getting married first and filing a K-3. We felt the K-3 was the better option for one simple thing. The idea that once she arrives in the US that she would be able to work sooner than if she entered on a K-1.

Thanks and I look forward to your thoughts..

Craig

 K-3s and K-1s go through the same AOS/EAD process once entering the USA. You are thinking the CR-1.

I also made many trips to southern Russia (about 10) and I have now been married to my lady for 2 1/2 years. No matter how much time you spend with someone there, it's not the same as living here and being married. Sounds like you still have a lot to learn about each other, and the 90 days of the K-1 visa might be very important days for you both. As for living over there, I know of several guys that thought the same, but after two or three months they were all more than ready to leave. It's just too different. And if you are thinking about doing the K-3 over the K-1 just because you think she can work sooner, well forget that. From what I read in your post and from my experience I think you might be making a mistake. Think some more about the K-1.
