The topic is pretty self-explanatory.

WAMU is done. Chase is taking over.

I have never really liked Chase. Thinking about going somewhere else but not sure where...Becu, maybe?

What about everyone else?

Are they good at a bank though?

I used to be at BofA and hated it with passion. I don't want to repeat the same cycle.

Hubby also has a credit card with now defunct WAMU but should be done paying it off in two months. I hope his rate is not going to increase again.

No bank is safe but I am not worried about my money (FDIC insured anyway), I just want a good bank not people who have no idea of how to process a check.

Thanks for your reply, AJ.

My money is at the Bank of Ethel. Dilbert fans will understand.

I have a small bank. Maybe 8 locations. They know my name. They "forget" to charge fees sometimes. If I write you a check and you don't have an account at my bank, you can cash my check without paying a $5 fee like you do at Chase.

My boss, however, had his mortgage through WaMu. He has a ridiculously low interest rate. He's worried that the interest rate will be "adjusted".

Lady, people aren't chocolates. Do you know what they are mostly? Bastards. ####### coated bastards with ####### filling. But I don't find them half as annoying as I find naive bobble-headed optimists who walk around vomiting sunshine.

I'm with Platy. I'm at a small bank. It made responsible decisions, when every other big bank gave a loan to everyone who walked in the door, so its more financially stable, and shares their financial results quarterly with all bank holders.

They know my name, sometimes I dont need an ID to do my transactions. They forget to charge me some fees, and most importantly they aren't at risk to fall under.
