I Just got the response from CASA they said because my 2007 tax return shows my adjusted income as $3000 (I have a business and a good cpa) I need a sponsor. I am not sure what to do now. Hmmmmmmm I might be in a pickle. I make alot of $$ at my business, own a home etc......but I do get creative with my write offs for tax purposes (obviously) and have a good cpa to assist in this. I did not think Casa would not take those things into concideration.......any advise on how to turn this around? I will contact my cpa also but?

Absolutely. This happens to self-employed people all the time with the I-864. Did you include your assets in the I-864?

If your assets don't push you above the poverty level, you will have no choice but to get a cosponsor.

Oh Olive - Holy #######! That's one hell of a CPA you have there, but in terms of USCIS/DOS that's not good. Sorry for being so blunt...but that's not good at all. Remember, they take everything into consideration. Is there any family member you can ask to do the co-sponsor thing for you? I'm sure they'd understand why you did it...but you'll now have to put them into this whole mix with you.

Good luck! You can figure it out.

I am starting to feel like the basis for a movie about the fall of the american economy LOL. I had $100,000+ equity in my home (california) and now I have $100,000 upside down because of the decline of real estate. So that won't help I think. I am wondering if sending them my monthly bank statements will be good enough? Not sure what difference IRS transcripts will be than my schedule C's. I have a email in to my CPA. I am in a pickle arent I. No one will sponsor us that I know. It would be like co-signing for a loan and no one here is that nice. Especially when they arent 100% excited that I married a man they have not even met before.

you can use your possessions(home/cars)

The adjusted gross. Oh yes, that is what they are going to be looking at. Although you have a good CPA (hopefully no audit) it isn't helping here. By all means try to use your assets and see if that will pull it off. Although the market sucks now it doesn't mean it will be forever. Hopefully they will take that into consideration. Sorry this is happening but don't lose hope yet. Keep that mind working and I would bet you will find a way.

Sorry I missed the party. I was really sick last night and had to go to bed early. Congrats on surviving your first interview. I think I agree that you should start with assets and go from there. 1 thing at a time. Good luck girl!
