McCain Wins Debate

Although the fate of tonight's presidential debate in Mississippi remains very much up in the air, John McCain has apparently already won it -- if you believe an Internet ad an astute reader spotted next to this piece in the online edition of the Wall Street Journal this morning.

"McCain Wins Debate!" declares the ad which features a headshot of a smiling McCain with an American flag background. Another ad spotted by our eagle-eyed observer featured a quote from McCain campaign manager Rick Davis declaring: "McCain won the debate-- hands down."

Here's the screenshot.

But when we turn to the Hebrew literature, we do not find such jokes about the donkey. Rather the animal is known for its strength and its loyalty to its master (Genesis 49:14; Numbers 22:30).

In all honesty - Kerry wiped the floor with Bush in the '04 debates, but it didn't seem to help him win.

That was because W could play the 9/11 to scare us.

Hell, for a couple weeks after 9/11 I was actually glad we had a Republican president; I thought he'd have more guts in going after the perps. How very wrong I was.

Feeling very, very good about Obama's prospects right now. :)

Didn't Bush with the '04 election on social issues?

I did think it was pretty poor form that he used 9/11 footage for the purposes of making campaign ads.

Feeling very, very good about Obama's prospects right now. :)

As I say - I think it depends on how much play this will get. GWB has had worse, and more embarrassing interviews and it doesn't seem to have hindered him overmuch. Certainly that Bush could get elected in the first place says something to me - given his obvious shortcomings.

9/11 was already ancient history by 2004. The focus shifted to what to do about Iraq. Kerry lost because he never had a plan on Iraq. Kerry lost the minute he gave that stupid salute at the DNC convention. He spent his time crusing around Boston harbor in swiftboat arguing about how he spent three months more in Vietnam than Bush did. Most of the public didn't care about who did what Vietnam in 2004 any more than they care about Obama having no military background at all in 2008.
