Hi gals! I am new to the site, and was trying to find posts from U.S. women filing for foreign men. I was hoping to get a kind of poll started: What country your man is from, age difference in any, how you met, etc.....

For myself, I am a little worried about the age difference. I am OLDER than he is. I know this is OK with men marrying women but any older gals snagged a younger foreign man with no troubles? Could use some words of encouragement from those who have gotten through the process without snags because of this. Is this age thing a real big issue? He is 21 and I am 35, what do you think?

Would love to hear from the women here and any advice for a newbie starting out, what were the biggest obstacles in your opinion? Thanks alot!

I'm Lisa and the love of my life is Tim. We have a 5 year age difference (I'm 24 and he's 19). I'm from california and he's from new zealand. We met on World of Warcraft (online game for those who don't know). The biggest problem right now is I just had to leave him at the airport to go back to NZ as the 3 mo visa waiver was up. ='( i cried all the way home (2 hrs) and still am crying. Was it this hard for any of you or am i just a wimp? lol

I'm sending in our I-129F tomorow. I hope it goes fast as I have a week off from my school in november. I'm in pharmacy tech program and then regular school for pre pharm classes hopefully.

I wish this being apart thing wasn't so hard tho ='(

We met playing WOW too. I'm 37 and the USC, he is 28 and from England. And no, you are NOT a wimp. Airport goodbyes are just about the hardest things I have ever had to do. It's getting to the point, that I enjoy our time together less because I am worried about that goodbye. I don't think the age difference will matter. Well, it matters to him, he loves that he snagged an older woman!

Nick and I met on Facebook and have been together since the first message! He's in England and is 35 - I'm 31 and in Florida...

And just to throw my 2 cents in about those airport goodbyes.... they are pure agony!!!! The kids and I fall into a trillion little pieces - we're all sobbing - the kids especially LOUDLY! - and each time it has only gotten harder to watch him disappear from sight.

I canNOT wait until he arrives for that last time on his ONE WAY ticket!!

Hmmm....I am 10 years older than my husband and we did not have any problems. Not with the visa process, not with our families, not with each other. Our K1 process took almost a year from filing to his POE, but part of that was delay on our part (on purpose) because of his grad school work.

The important thing to remember, aside from being able to prove a bona fide relationship, is that you two discuss everything the way you would in any relationship (regardless of age difference).

I wish you great luck on your journey!

Oh, I'm USC and my husband is German.

I'm a naturalized USC (Hungarian by birth) and my husband is Hungarian. Our age difference is 9 years with me being the older. Our K1 process took 5 1/2 months from filing to P0E, so we were very lucky. We ran into one small problem during the visa interview, and we needed to submit additional evidence to convince the CO, but once we did that, we were issued the visa on the next day.

I don't think the age-difference is a factor, unless you allow it to be. Some of the basic principles that go into play for any successful relationship need to be followed, ( such as communicaiton and willingness to compromise) but as long as there is a commitment to succeed from both parties, I think the chances of a successful relationship rival that of a couple where the there isn't a reversed age-difference.

I am 21 years older then My fiance and let me tell you, YOu come to learn to ignore those who are rude in comments.

If you are 2 consenting adults over the age of 18, it is NO ONES, family, friends, people on the street, forums or whereevers business about the age gap.

I joined a support forum for age gap relationships and there are MANY that are working and many who are married.

Age gap Support

In the end it is about you and him..no one else's

I also know many on that site who filed for the K1 visa AND it went AWESOME!

best wishes!

I am probably an exception, as I am the foreign fiancée and am older (almost 9 years) than my SO. That alone should put to rest any doubts about the bona fide of our relationship, as well as the fact that I am an employee of the Italian government. I am sure the people in Naples who are going to interview me on Wednesday are aware that the average Italian would rather cut off a hand than give up a gov't job :D - not even for a Green Card!

Hi,

Wish my fiance and I have a similar age difference. Wish I could tell you the process is easy or smooth, but it's not. We filed 19 months ago. He had his interview and we have been on AP for over 10 months now. I have contacted my representative and both senators, I call the DOS and he calls the Embassy regularly, but there has been no progress on our case at all. Hope things are easier for you, but be prepared for a wait. :star:

Hello everyone....I'm the American woman filing for my Dutch fiance. We are almost exactly two years apart in age (his bday is Oct. 24 and mine is Oct.29) He'll be 39 and I'll be 37 very soon. We met on Myspace through a mutual friend and like many others I was going through a rough time in my life and then a subsequent divorce. Pat was there for me every step of the way and I don't know how I would have made it through it all without him....and like many others as well, the airport goodbyes don't get any better! It's pure torture seeing him walk away and not know when the next visit will be....I can't wait for that final one-way ticket to be bought.

I get the same question here about finding someone closer...or someone from here.....it's not like i went looking for a relationship when i logged onto Myspace that day, love finds us in all kinds of places and I am however VERY glad it found me then... :luv:...my sweetie is one of the best things that has ever happened to me. (my beautiful daughter is the other...hehe)

We've not filed yet but we hope to do that in the next month or so...I hope those that have and are waiting get everything completed and are with their sweeties soon!!!!

Hi there, we have a similar age difference - he(Nepali) is 25 and I(USC) am 41. I am encouraged by a lot of the replies on here although I have had my days especially when we are apart where i am wondering why i coudn't have fallen in love with someone my own age - on paper it does look a little 'wierd' and I am worried it will be an issue when my husband has his interview. Nepal is a very family oriented culture and I am sure the CO will ask him if he wants kids - otherwise I don't see how it is an issue. When we are together the difference disappears - he is not a 'typical' 25 year old party guy, he is more shy and serious like i have always been even at that age so our temperaments match, that is important. He is getting a little bit of grey and I have yet to see a grey hair so there LOL....We have done a lot of trekking together and sometimes I will get to the top of the hill before him. One one forum where they were discussing OW/YM couples someone suggested the older woman stay in shape - this should be true whether it is OW/YM or YW/OM. I watched my mother nurse her 20-year-older husband for 13 years as he slowly died from emphysema and don't want to be the same burden on my husband. Obviously the vows are 'in sickness and health' and even younger partners get sick but epecially if you are more than 10 years older keep yourself healthy so you can enjoy a nice long life together.

Age doesn't matter as long as you can proved that you have the real love to each other. Go for it maam!

I'm 21 years older than my Moroccan husband. They practically rushed us thru CA and the NVC, and he got his visa the day after the interview at a very tough, high fraud consulate. They know about your age difference from the first filing, so it's the rest of your relationship and how it's presented that matters most. I wouldn't advise you to worry about that. Best wishes!

I am almost 6 years older than my husband and he is the one that has the money, I am the poor one. Good luck with your journey, I will be happy when it is all done and my husband is here with me.

I met my fiance 10 years ago when I was working in London. He's more than 20 years older than I am. Sure, on paper it looks crazy - older man, foreign man, etc. etc... and I spent years trying to convince myself that it wasn't going to work for all the practical reasons... you know, we're in different stages of life, he'll get sick, he'll die when I'm just hitting my stride, etc. But, the thing is, love isn't practical. I mean, I guess it could be - and in the end, ours turned out to be a very practical love -- we just weren't able to be happy with anyone else!

To be fair though - the biggest hurdle was my own family. But after the initial shock, they've embraced him, and have been incredible about it. But it wasn't easy.

Every relationship has it's challenges - ones with an age difference of any kind have some that may be more predictable than others. And yet for any age difference relationship, I can tell you about many more of the same age who've had big problems/tragedies... a friend whose husband died at age 46, other friends who looked perfect on paper and got divorced, others who didn't get divorced but are basically strangers, etc. etc. etc. You can never predict what's going to happen. So who really cares?

People are going to be jerks about it - giving you stares, making terrible jokes. But hey, it wasn't that long ago that people had the same backward attitudes about interracial relationships (some people still do)... progress comes slowly, I guess.

LOL!!!!!!. I am a college student in Texas and I am US woman filing for my husband in Morocco. My husband and I have a 4 yr age difference. We actually met through my father because my father actually lives in Morocco. I wouldn't be too worried about the age difference because my dad was 30 yrs older than his wife who is also from Morocco. The only thing you should worry about is being able to prove that the relationship is a loving one. Emails, im's, cell phone records, pictures. Every little thing helps. I don't think the age difference between you two is that major.
