Hi gals! I am new to the site, and was trying to find posts from U.S. women filing for foreign men. I was hoping to get a kind of poll started: What country your man is from, age difference in any, how you met, etc.....

For myself, I am a little worried about the age difference. I am OLDER than he is. I know this is OK with men marrying women but any older gals snagged a younger foreign man with no troubles? Could use some words of encouragement from those who have gotten through the process without snags because of this. Is this age thing a real big issue? He is 21 and I am 35, what do you think?

Would love to hear from the women here and any advice for a newbie starting out, what were the biggest obstacles in your opinion? Thanks alot!

Hi Bug!! WELCOME!!!!!!!! you will find so many friendly and helpful people on this site! Best wishes to you!!!

I don't have any advice, as we don't have our (well, his  ) visa yet, but in my case the hardest obstacle is going to be the support issue. I don't make a lot of money, though he makes a good salary. I only hope they really consider that. Well, time will tell... hopefully his interview will be in about a month... keep your fingers crossed for us ;)

Where are you from? I live in WI

As long as you can prove you have a bonafide relationship you should not have any snags solely due to the age difference. Just be prepared to answer any questions if they come up.

There are many older women who have successfully petitioned for a younger man with no problems.

hi!! i'm Susan, a college student from NY filing for my sweety pie who is from Slovakia. we have an 8 year age difference, and i don't think age differences seem to matter much in this process. your age gap is much smaller than many others i've seen on here anyway! oh yah, and Peter and I met on eharmony.com, soo maybe one day you will see us on tv on an eharmony commercial! :P

advice? obstacles? hmm...well i'm in the middle of this process, i should be getting the NOA2 within the next week, but my biggest problem so far has been waiting haha. i am pretty impatient. so my advice would be trying to improve your patience haha. but i know that in the next part of the process for me it will be a lot of work to get together paperwork from my co-sponsors, so if you need co-sponsors, plan that now to let them know far in advance to get the appropriate paperwork together for you.

by the way, this is a great site. it helped Peter and I tremendously. stick around :)

August 11th, 2007: Peter and Susan start communicating on eharmony :D

December 29th, 2007: The first meeting! Susan flew to England to meet Peter. Fell in love :)

I'm Heather, and soon I will be starting the process of filing for my fiance. I am 19 (20 on Sunday :D) and he is 21. Age difference is only 2 years between us. He is from Sweden and we met online playing a multiplayer roleplaying game. I'm worried that we won't get approved because we are so young, but that is just a minor worry Heh.

I'm Lisa and the love of my life is Tim. We have a 5 year age difference (I'm 24 and he's 19). I'm from california and he's from new zealand. We met on World of Warcraft (online game for those who don't know). The biggest problem right now is I just had to leave him at the airport to go back to NZ as the 3 mo visa waiver was up. ='( i cried all the way home (2 hrs) and still am crying. Was it this hard for any of you or am i just a wimp? lol

I'm sending in our I-129F tomorow. I hope it goes fast as I have a week off from my school in november. I'm in pharmacy tech program and then regular school for pre pharm classes hopefully.

I wish this being apart thing wasn't so hard tho ='(

Hi, as far as the age difference, I am similar to you, and the lady asked at the interview in cuba if he had a problem that I was older, but that was it, oh, and what if I couldn't have children, would he be okay with it. A lawyer said with women being older that sometimes they will want to interview the woman seperately, but we had no problem. Good Luck!
