In the organization structure of USCIS, they have a specific office that deals with congressional letters and they have a standard set of canned response letters. This is not the same office that reviews or approves your case.

When the USCIS office that responds to congressional letters looks up your case on the computer system to find its status, that generates a touch.

If you call USCIS on the phone to enquire about our case, that also generates a touch.

Lisa,

I just want to say that I wish you the very best. (F)

Actually, I have called to inquire and it did not generate a touch, but thanks for raining on my parade anyway lol :)

I realize that there are standard answers.

But, its nice to know that we got two touches after an inquiry

Timeline: 13 month long journey from filing to visa in hand

If you were lucky and got an approval and reunion with your loved one rather quickly; Please refrain from telling people who waited 6+ months just to get out of a service center to "chill out" or to "stop whining" It's insensitive, and unecessary. Once you walk a mile in their shoes you will understand and be heard.

Thanks!

Oh gosh. That is insane. This is what I do not understand. The system is supposed to be a tool so everyone will be encouragde to do it the right way. It is frustrating that hundreds of illegals and would be illegals enter the United States everyday and guess what? They get it the easy way. While all of us who have chosen to do things by the book has to go through so much pain and misery because we chose to do it legally. What a rationale.

Most of the illegal immigrants that are here came here secrectly on foot, via land. That is the only reason they are here really. You can't enter the US via commecial airline illegally without a visa. Saying that we are getting stuck waiting because we choose to do it the legal way....well, what other way could we do it? Unless our spouse is from Mexico, its not like our spouses can sneak over the wall in the middle of the night!! We have no choice but to do it the legal way.

There are a lot of holes in the immigration process and until someone (a politician) takes the problem and works hard to bring it to light and get changes made it will remain the same....its been going on many years now and will continue. We get frustrated and want to contact Senators, etc. during the process but once we get our spouse here we could care less anymore because we got what we want and want to wash our hands of it. It needs to be championed by someone in political office who does this kind of stuff for a living.

Every milestone is a step in the right direction and a step towards getting completed and getting your spouse here. Unfortunately through the process you either become a basket case or a numb drone while waiting for it all to be over.

I was so excited many times through this process...from when I received NOA1 for the first petition, touches, etc. til case complete at NVC and now interview....but really it is a long wait. The excitement from these things wears off quick then next thing you know you are waiting for the next hurdle...so you can get excited again only to wait again..more. I thought I was almost there when I had case complete at NVC only to find that it took over 3 months to be scheduled for the interview once we finished with NVC.

I will be excited when I see my husband at JFK airport with his arms open wide. Until then, anything can happen. Count your blessings and hope it goes as fast as it can (which is NOT fast, by any means).

What level of politician would be suitable to handle something like this? Not personal cases...but the whole problem in general..who can address this? I am not a political person so I am not sure who I would even be pursuing to take this problem on.
