the REALLY stupid RFE's are for when NVC doesn't know how to read or when NVC loses a sheet of paper. Like... our ds-230 Military Record. :bonk: Seems like that sheet was there when they looked at file on Aug 15th, and yesterday: poof! gone! ... what happened?

argh! YES! the case number was clearly writting in the upper-right-hand corner of EVERY sheet we sent!

Well this is my new favorite forum: got an RFE yesterday stating that my husband's birth certificate was missing. I had put it in the cover letter, translated it, put a post-it note on it - and of course, it is the ONE thing that goes "missing." It is now under "review" by a supervisor who will look at it in the next 10 days. (FOR REALZ???). Whenever I call the NVC they say they need the ORIGINAL birth certificate when I sent a certified copy - which is how it works in FRANCE. How can I get to talk to a supervisor to explain this to them and get them to see that my BC is NOT missing or is it better to just send off another Birth Certificate?

:help: I am seriously worried sick about this.

Same exact thing happened to us. Only we sent in the original birth certificate... and they said our marriage certificate wasn't original which is DEF. was. My lawyer sent them file copies of them and sent a letter in response telling them that they are indeed the originals and to go back over them. That's what they're going to get if we have to send them again.... because they're the originals! If you can, call NVC and talk to a supervisor or if you have a lawyer have them deal with it. Ask any lawyer and they'll tell you that they deal with this with almost every case!

I called the NVC, the operator inform me that my marriage certificate is not issued by the appropriate authority. I send them the only original copy that I got, my friends they sent a certified copy and their cases are completed. The seals and stamps in my certificate and my friend's are the same.

What I learned:

Send certified copies, and pray that your case is managed by someone who knows what he is doing

My stupid RFE was:

Passport Police Clearance

What I learned:

I am from New Delhi, India. Wanted to let people applying from here know that the US embassy in New Delhi require you to get two police certificates if you are an Indian citizen, residing here and your passport was issued more than 6 months before your application. Please note that one police clearance is required from your local Passport office and one from your district police (SSP's office).

Just got one today for my I-864. I wrote "student" for employment, they sent it back with the following message:

It appears that there is no proof of current employment (a recently dated job letter or pay stub), or

self-employment status (a recently dated letter on business letterhead or a business license).

Called and they said I should have written "unemployed" and that I should send a letter telling them I'm a full-time student. I figured they could figure that out, what with the tax transcript. Whatever.

Step in the process:

i 864 AOS

Mistake:

Most Recent taxes were under extension...

I wrote "taxes under extension"

What I learned:

My parents in law and new wife don't like mistakes.

Answer from the lady at the NVC, "I cant tell you anything because its all explained online" should constitute another call to the NVC hoping you don't get the same lady.

Good luck my friends!

My stupid RFE was:

Copy of Nikah Nama in original language

What I learned:

I submitted the translated copy, and copy of marriage certificate. received RFE stating "petitioner submitted translated nikah nama, need nikah nama in original language". Apparently there is a rule - donot submit translation without accompanying original language copy. duh ! :(

I submitted I130 for IR-1 spouse, noa1 12/05/2011. They sent a letter dated 5/14/2012 that they need evidence -- they asked specifically for a copy of our daughter's birth cert (I couldn't send it with the original i130 b/c husband was in jail at the time of her birth and I couldn't get the ack. of paternity to him until this past March) and copies of passport style photos (I sent in his mugshot that I cropped and sized myself -- wasn't correct). Will be sending this to my atty tonight in hopes they move fast!!!!

I just got an RFE today. They want the passport style photos. I sent them with the original packet. In fact, I sent duplicates. Two of me and two of my husband. Why do they need another passport style photo? I didn't put an alien number on the back because my husband doesn't have one, we still live overseas. I'm not sure why they need more of the same photo.
