Category: Police Clearance Certificates (PCC)

My stupid RFE was:

for the Police Clearance Certificate (PCC) of my wife's country of nationality in which she hasn't lived in since 2002. We only sent her current residence country's PCC which apparently wasn't enough.

I guess I misunderstood the very confusing (and badly written) instructions posted here: http://travel.state.gov/visa/immigrants/info/info_3195.html#police

Lesson learned:

Get a PCC from any country in which you've lived for more than 12 months after the age of 16 and especially of the country of your nationality if you lived in it for more than 6 months after the age of 16 even if you haven't lived there in years. Makes sense?

Hope this helps someone...Regards all and good luck.

I got an RFE for a Police certficate from my country of birth. I haven't lived there for years and I am now a citizen of another country. I have requested the cert but it is taking so long so I sent the IV Package without the cert and wrote a letter that I will have it ready by the time of the interview. Didnt work. :(

Lesson learnt:

Start the processing for PCC waaaaay in advance, if things are known to move slooow in the country.

My wife accidentally sent her passport to the NVC. My wife has been freaking out and wants it back.

The NVC, instead of sending just the passport back, sent all our originals back, after finishing our review.

The Rio embassy needs to have the original marriage and birth certificate for the interview. They told the NVC this, so the NVC RFE'd us, because THEY sent out the wrong documents.

I'm about to cry.

To elaborate on our stupid RFE...

The NVC mailed out the originals they needed to have on hand to schedule our appointment with the Rio embassy. We requested that they return my wife's passport, NOT any other original documents. The NVC, being useless as it is, just mass-mailed. /sigh

A supervisor contacted the Rio embassy and Rio agreed to schedule the interview w/o our originals on hand, but we do have to bring them to the interview. However, if you're familiar with the process, you know that last week was the second week of December, and the second week is now over. We're in the third week of December - which means our case, closed last week, was not scheduled for an interview for January.

We have to wait to be scheduled for February.

I've got two RFEs, one at USCIS and another on NVC.

The USCIS RFE was to send photos together with the I-129F form. We were applying for K-3. We did send photos on our I-130 packet but on our I-129F my husband only sent a copy of our I-130 NOA1 and the I-129F form.

The NVC RFE was our co-sponsor's I-864 Part 25. His entries didn't match the W-2. He rounded of his income to the nearest thousand. What the NVC wants is the exact figures.

Another silly mistake, I signed i-864 using violet color pen, got RFE for that and another couple of months in NVC

Black or blue pen recommended for signatures.

My Stupid mistake was thinking they will get everything at once even though I sent them everything at once.

Called and got a verbal RFE saying the NVC is missing my wife Biographic passport page which I clearly sent along with everything else they got. I guess they probably missed it. But I'm glad I called I was gonna sit on this and waited for them.

Now I just have to email them again. Bumm yes, but a short delay I hope.

Similar happened to me.

I sent in my package of the DS-230 Police/Marriage/Birth certificates etc. And they RFE'd me, claiming a missing DS-230.

I suspect my certificates were 'touched' first and their computer generated a standard letter about the missing DS-230, when my Wife and I clearly know it was in the same envelope we mailed to them lol.

Weird thing was, we were RFE'd on the 29th March, and the case was completed on the 30th ... :bonk:
