My stupid RFE was:

They could not read the travel stamps on my passport from the scan I sent them. The next one was 11" X 14" and was approved after 6 days delay. dancin5hr.gif

Mine:

I864 says they want a W2, but they really want a 1040.

I'm waiting for a third RFE to come in and ask for a 1040 for 2010 and 2011. Even though it says they aren't required I bet they will be.

Make sure the pictures are the specific measurements that they require...oh and it's helpful if they don't lose half of your papers - nothing you can do about that though :/

dleaman67, welcome to the forum! I've removed your post above and am moving your duplicate thread from the Introducing Our Members forum to the "What Visa Do I Need" forum, where it best fits. You'll see answers there. :)

06-04-2007 = TSC stamps postal return-receipt for I-129f.

06-11-2007 = NOA1 date (unknown to me).

07-20-2007 = Phoned Immigration Officer; got WAC#; where's NOA1?

09-25-2007 = Touch (first-ever).

09-28-2007 = NOA1, 23 days after their 45-day promise to send it (grrrr).

10-20 & 11-14-2007 = Phoned ImmOffs; "still pending."

12-11-2007 = 180 days; file is "between workstations, may be early Jan."; touches 12/11 & 12/12.

12-18-2007 = Call; file is with Division 9 ofcr. (bckgrnd check); e-prompt to shake it; touch.

12-19-2007 = NOA2 by e-mail & web, dated 12-18-07 (187 days; 201 per VJ); in mail 12/24/07.

01-09-2008 = File from USCIS to NVC, 1-4-08; NVC creates file, 1/15/08; to consulate 1/16/08.

01-23-2008 = Consulate gets file; outdated Packet 4 mailed to fiancee 1/27/08; rec'd 3/3/08.

04-29-2008 = Fiancee's 4-min. consular interview, 8:30 a.m.; much evidence brought but not allowed to be presented (consul: "More proof! Second interview! Bring your fiance!").

05-05-2008 = Infuriating $12 call to non-English-speaking consulate appointment-setter.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).

My stupid RFE: They said my marriage wasn't registered with the civil authorities.

Learned: write a COVER LETTER for the marriage certificate explaining where to find the date and time that your marriage was indeed registered on your marriage certificate.

My Stupid RFE:

We received a checklist for a Police Clearance Certificate. My spouse lives in Queensland, Australia, and the NVC's instructions in the checklist clearly state that the PCC is sent directly to the US Consulate in Sydney.

Does not compute....

Turns out, they expected her to get TWO checklists - one from Queensland, which they had correctly encoded to be sent directly to the Consulate, but ANOTHER checklist from the State of Victoria, where she lived for 20 years.

On the instructions from NVC, there is a URL for the Victoria PCCs - I mean, IN THE LETTER THEY SENT US - that, if you open it, says that the State of Victoria will NOT give police certificates to people who DO NOT CURRENTLY LIVE in Victoria.

AND, the fingerprint checks for Australia are nation-wide.

So, the checklist was for an unnecessary Police Certificate, which could not be gotten anyway.

It took me 5 days of calling NVC to finally figure out what was going on behind the scenes. The checklist never specified that it was a certificate from Victoria that was missing.

We would have had a case complete over a week ago except for their error. ARGH!

Ours was that they wanted a legible copy of our marriage certificate, even though we already sent a VERY legible copy of it.

I just mailed away our RFE response, but I sent in our ORIGINALS just to be on the safe side.

The USCIS lady that we spoke to on the phone said that it's ok to send in the originals, we just wont get them back, which is perfectly fine!

On the I-864 my husband's physical and postal address are the same, so when it asks for your postal address (if different) he left it blank, instead of putting N/A. I could scream! That's an additional 20 work days for them to stare at our forms.

My stupid CHECKLIST (NVC stage) was:

Sent the French marriage certificate "original certified copy", although we got married in the US 1st, then had the marriage transcripted after in the French registries.

--> US administration wants the US documents when available.

Cost: 57 EUR of overseas mail + some delay to be quantified...

I remember reading somewhere in this long and glorious thread that someone filled out forms in the wrong color ink. Can someone refresh me memory? I've started my forms with black ink and want to make sure thats okay.

Thanks!

From what I have read all throughout my research, filling out the forms in black ink is fine, but "signing" them should be in BLUE ink because if signed in black they might mistake it as just a copy.
