Do I need fingerprints for the EAD card?

I just received a letter from USCIS/DHS today that my fingerprints have to be re-taken.

I am pretty annoyed with that, especially since I read that it can happen that the machine won't recognize my fingerprints again...and again.

Now my question:

Does that mean that my EAD application is on hold also?

Do they need my fingerprints to process my EAD application?

The letter from USCIS says that the appointment for re-taking my fingerprints is for the I-485 only.

Does anyone know?

I am worried that this will delay my EAD...

:(

The answer is yes. In the end it really does not matter, because if you receive an RFE for your I-485 it will suspend processing on all unapproved interim benefits, so they have you either way.

YMMV
