Did you get paid today?

I don't know if this is nationwide or just the northeast but a slew of banks did not receive direct deposits from the companies that normally put them through because of some type of server issue. Everyone here is freaking out because no one will say when we'll get our money.

Many are saying that this is a ploy to stop people from taking money out like they did in the crash.

I get my paycheck twice a month. My direct deposit slip has already been placed (got the email confirmation) and usually takes 3-5 business days to go through. Since I'm moving out at the beginning of the month (hopefully), I need that paycheck so if I were not to get this check or if it delayed more than a couple business days I'd pull all of my money out of my bank (WaMu), pay my credit cards, and close both my savings and credit accounts with them.

Bills and bill collectors do not wait, so neither should banks.

A quick google news search on direct deposit reveals nothing of interest either.

Is today your payday? If not then I guess you wouldn't be affected unless it's still down when you get your dir deposit. I don't know why it's not in the news but I just found out about it so maybe it's just being noticed by those of us who don't normally check our balance right away.

I am guessing ... and this is just a guess ... that the problem is with one of the large paycheck processing outsourcing firms (like ADP). That would have reasonably wide impact but would probably not make it into the news.

I am guessing ... and this is just a guess ... that the problem is with one of the large paycheck processing outsourcING firms (like ADP). That would have reasonably wide impact but would probably not make it into the news.

We don't outsource our payroll. Oh well I'm gonna go sulk now.

i wanted to open up a joint-bank account with my recently arrived husband. i was thinking of Commerce, here in the NE, because it's easy and they have no fees or minimums or anything... is Commerce still okay?

They say it is. Commerce is being acquired by TD, and Canadian banks (they say) are good to go!

So far Eastern Bank, Salem Five, Provident. For some reason it is also preventing people to go online and check their balances too. Oh well I guess it must be a local thing if no one else has been effected. Lucky me!
