Hey guys,

This is an awesome site. Glad I found out about it. Does anyone know why it takes Vermont sooooooooo much longer to approve/deny I-130 petitions ? It takes a mere 3-4 months in California and it takes SEVEN (7) months in Vermont . why ???? .. I sure wish my case was in California.:angry::angry::angry::angry::angry::angry:

I-130 re-submitted 05-22-2009

June 3rd 2009 - Rec Hardcopy NOA 1

June 5th 2009 - Touched

August 21 2009 - Touched

August 24 2009 - APPROVED - NOA 2

Sept 1st 2009 - NVC Rec - Case # assigned

Hi Hollis,

Just wanted to say welcome to the Canada forum. I have no idea why Vermont is taking so long now - if you had been reading this board a year ago - everyone wanted their case to be at Vermont because it was so much faster

Hello there,

That's actually funny.

But does it depend on where the petetioner lives in the USA, or it just happens to be placed into a specific category depending on the details of the application ?

BTW- Are canadians allowed to travel to the US to vist- ? for example: Thanksgiving (Canada)

No one knows why Vermont is so slow. We were sitting at Vermont for ten months with no work on our case at all - we then got transferred to California because Vermont were so far behind and California approved our petition in about a week.

I don't know whether Vermont has started to speed up yet but I hope you don't have to wait as long as we did.

I guess it just the waiting game- this really bites. But does anyone know if canadians can travel to the US to visit while the petition is pending ?. I have been getting mixed messages. some say you can and some say you cannot. please advise

But it is up to the border patrol person to decide whether they let you in or not.

Actually this thread reminded me that our file got transferred to California as well.

i understand why you are angry... i had to go through vermont when it was supposedly "quick" it took 5 days short just about for a year since i had filed until i was approved and now i am stuck again. do not feel bad maybe it could take shorter than they guess. hope all goes well and just try to have patience and keep yourself busy :) i know it is hard, but just think in the end the reward you will have!

Everything -- and I mean everything -- at Vermont got put on the back burner around May or so to process naturalization petitions and I think it was the B2 visa?as well. It also didn't help that VSC absorbed a lot of different visa petitions from TSC earlier in the year. You think VSC is slow? TSC was horrible with a capital H. I don't know if they have ever recovered from that priority processing, sure doesn't look like it.

But like trailmix said, a year ago people were kvetching about how horrible CSC was and how fast VSC was......it flip flops back and forth all the time.
