Hi Everyone,

It's been awhile since I've posted on here. Things have gotten a bit better with us as I have finished the semester. Now I am taking a summer course (3 weeks, easy stuff!) I am still working and took another job teaching 2 Korean children English, 2 hours every day. The extra money is really nice and will help us. I am looking at tutoring for the ESL Academy at the university also. I have an interview next week. That will bring me up to 3 jobs! But one I can do from home on my own time. We really need the money and we're trying to put some aside to move once I graduate in August and also for a plane ticket for Youssef as soon as his AP is processed. He has been such a blessing lately. I know he hates being stuck at home but he has been helping immensly! He washes the dishes for me, and picks up the house. We lost our child care assistance from the state because he can't work (a whole other story....!) So our son can only go to daycare in the morning for a few hours while I'm at class (all we can afford). In the afternoon Youssef has been staying with him, for his nap and watching him all afternoon until I get home at 6. He has been such a huge help and I really want to do something to show him how much it means to me (Even though now he thinks he's the woman and i'm the husband...) I want him to see that he really is contributing in a HUGE way and that having the extra money etc. would not be possible were he not helping so much. Does anyone have a good idea as to how I could show him this? It doesn't have to be something big just a cute idea to show him how much I love and appreciate him. Thanks gals!

Woww! You ARE busy. I don't know how you do it, but you're my She-ro.

If you can find a day when you are not in class, or working and can devote a day just to him, try to arrange a sitter. (a family member or perhaps one of the sisters from majid that you have bonded with) Try to devote about 5-6 hours if possible as he will be able to actually "see" the effort you went to for this. Plus, it will be equivalent to the amount of time he is usually giving doing his "chores". Then, give him your undivided attention.

Spend that time doing something that you know he will enjoy or that he has voiced a desire to do. Be sure to explain to him that it is HIS time and that the whole idea is for you two to spend the time together, but using it how ever he likes. You can even state how you really appreciate how much he has been doing and the impact it is having on the family as a whole. Of course, also how you realize that it probably seems he never has much say (or variety) in what he does with his time, but that today you are "stealing" time from your "regular" life. If you want to up the ante a little, give him a manicure, shave, and/or haircut. Buy him a special piece of clothing, nothing expensive, just new. They usually won't admit it, but men feel really good about themselves after a little pampering, or mini-makeover, too. :P

At the end of the day, let him know that you hope to do this again, when possible, or let him know that if if can be arranged (and you can afford it), he can take a "Youssef" day on his own sometime.

P.S., don't let Father's Day sneak up on you. ;)
