Hi all VJ members,

I am writting an explanation why my sponsor didn't require to file tax for 2005 for I-864EZ form. I was just wondering if this sounds good or do I need to include anything else?

"I,................, was not required to file a Federal income tax return during 2005 because I was attending a high school full time and and made no income for 2005 of any type."

Does that sound ok?

Thanks again guys!!!

Why are you writing the letter instead of your sponsor? Just make sure to get it notarized. Also it is a good venue for the sponsor to explain why you won't become a public charge. Then they should include everything possible to back up the claim. I am assuming there is a qualified co-sponsor.

Thanks for the reply.

My sponsor is my husband..well he is on the deployment right now so I am preparing all the documents.

How can I explain that I won't become a public charge?

How can I prove that he was in high school in year 2005?

There is no co-sponsor since he made enough income for the most recent year in 2007.

First of all, thanks to your husband for serving. Since he is on active duty and made enough income in 2007 there will be no problem. Your first letter will be adequate and you don't have to add any additional information. You won't have to prove he was in high school. They will look at his age. I give you my apologies if I worried you or sounded a bit terse.

If you need any help or support in this process you are welcome to pm me. My beloved daughter-in-law is Thai, my son is a USMC vet and I spent many years as a US Army wife. We've been through deployments, and our relationship grew even stronger.

Thank you so much for the offer. I just start on my application so i am sure I will have a lot of questions for you. Thanks again :)

So i dont need to explain that I wont be publich charge? and Do i still need to get the letter notarized?

By the way, this is our first deployment. I believe we are holding up well, I jsut get frustrated sometimes since I have to deal with everything myself.

Anyway, thanks again!!

Your letter is fine, and you don't need to explain the "not becoming a public charge" thing, nor proof he was in highschool, as he makes enough now.

Yes, dealing with everything oneself can be a challenge, but it is one of the reasons why military spouses are so strong. The last time I wasn't sure I could get through it, but by the grace of God we made it one day at a time. Don't be shy about using all the resources available to you through the military and otherwise. Asking for help when you need it is a sign of strength.

There are actually things I miss about being an Army wife and Mom. The bad things I've mostly zapped out of my memory.

The Blue Angels have been zooming around in preparation for an airshow here the next couple of days, so the nostalgia sets in.
