You just don't forget things like that.
Sometimes it is best to not look down.

PEOPLE: READ THE APPLICATION FORM INSTRUCTIONS!!!! They have a lot of good information in them! Most of the questions I see on VJ are clearly addressed by the form instructions. Give them a read!! If you are unable to understand the form instructions, I highly recommend hiring someone who does to help you with the process. Our process, from K-1 to Citizenship and U.S. Passport is completed. Good luck with your process.

I know I come across rather callous on this topic - but frankly, I really can't comprehend all the fuss. Leaving aside all the issues about government and control and whatnot - just focusing on the personal decision involved....for me it just boils down to practicality. I see it pretty simply as:

Option A: #### up your life (don't abort)

Option B: don't #### up your life (abort)

I don't see the attachment to a collection of cells, whether you want to call it an embryo, fetus, or about to be born. I cannot comprehend, at all, even the remotest concept of guilt over the issue. To me, it would be like feeling guilty over having your period - ala - "damn, there goes another one! That could have been a beautiful baby if only I had gotten laid at just the right time". It just strikes me as ridiculous. Having a child simply because one gets pregnant, despite any other plans and wishes one may have, or one's financial and emotional capability to properly raise a child, just strikes me as about as silly, foolish, and selfish as it gets. Now - that said - I understand that not everyone feels that way. I acknowledge this. I just don't comprehend it - nor will I ever. But that's me. As you know, I have issues (:

Now - regardless of one's PERSONAL decision about such things - I can equally not understand why anyone would care whether or not someone ELSE has one, especially a total stranger. I also don't understand why anyone would invite into their lives and the lives of others government control over their bodies - unless of course one is just a fascist. I, on the other hand, think people should be able to cut off any part of their own body that they wish. I also think they should be able to insert anything into their own body that they wish - whether it be food, a sex toy, a Cuban cigar, or a nice big fat needle full of heroin. What someone else does within the context of their own body simply is none of my business, let alone the business of my government. If one cannot even control decisions about one's own body, one cannot be said to have freedom in any sense of the word.

To the OP: if you want some interesting insights about abortion that will most assuredly be different from what anyone else in your class has to say, pick up a copy of Freakonomics - it has a LOT of interesting things to say about the issue, from the standpoint of economics (how the world REALLY works, rather than how we think or wish it would work).

I think in order to understand that attachment you must feel it (or at least be able to empathize or put yourself in their shoes), which to me sort of explains the disconnected feeling you're giving off. That's pretty much where we don't see eye to eye on, because the rest I totally understand about government and personal choices about one's body.

A fair and measured response. Thank you for that (:

One kills a cell before its implanted in the uterus, the other kills a fetus already implanted in the uterus
A fetus is just a collection of cells....

a fetus is also a human being.. This is where you started and became a well grown individual..

Do you think if your mother aborted you while you are inside her womb, you will be able to answer VJ's topic..?

I am just saying that the unborn individual does not have fault on to why they exist in the womb.. Two person did it.. so it just a matter of taking responsibilities.. If you dont want to be pregnant, lock your pants both.. Condom is everywhere...

Yes, I have special powers.

If you dont want to be pregnant, lock your pants both.. Condom is everywhere...
Or get an abortion.

What I dislike about how you put this forth is basically you give two choices. for and against abortion

Excuse me, but what about pro-choice? The idea that the people involved should have a say.

If you need another point of view, take a look at these links:

I'd rather some randy teens steal some condoms than have an unwanted baby on the way...

Is the morning after pill available in the US now like it has been in Europe? It wasn't the last time I was home.

Also, I hear you still have to go to a doctor and get a prescription in the US to get birth control pills while in Europe you just pop into the pharmacy and pick up a pack without a prescription. Hell, even in Dubai you don't have to have a prescription to get birth control pills. I think there would be alot fewer pregnancies/abortions if the morning after pill and birth control were available over the counter in the states. It's no wonder the States have the highest teen pregnancy rate in the Industrialized world.

I say if a person doesn't like abortion then don't have one. If you are against someone else having an abortion then sign a contract saying that you will financially provide for the woman to have prenatal checkups and then also agree to financially support the child until it graduates high school and finds it's first job.

The morning after pill is available, but you do have to have a prescription for it as well as any kind of contraception (that isn't a condome)....in most states. I don't know what those states are, but I'm pretty sure you can get it OTC in some.

Even having a prescription, you gotta hope you don't run into one of those nutty pharmacists that won't fill the prescription based on THEIR personal moral code....GAH!
