Like previous members have mentioned. Try to go to see your Doctor and do the colonscopy in Australia before coming to the states, medical expenses are so much more expensive here in the US than Australia.

1) Don't stresss yourself i know with the interview coming up in the next couple of days. Try to relax and DRINK PLENTY OF FLUID. Are you constipated or do you go smoothly, It seems like a case of Hemorroid caused by stress mostly

If you are not taking enough fiber in your food intake, try taking some Fiber tablet supplement like Metamunisal.

Take care of yourself

The bleeding can be from one of two things internal dangles or a scratch. You can get both with constipation with Interal dangles you will bleed off and on, if it just a scratch it will heal in a few days.

Both conditions drink water and increase Fiber content in your diet, easy to do with cereals and other foods that contain high fiber. If you want you can also use the powders in drinks or foods, all have the same fiber content benafiber powder is one with no taste and can be put in drink or food and you will not taste it.

Some diets may require more than 100% of daily fiber to get normal

Either way both of you should get to the doctor, anya-D for sure. If you can do it before you come here it will be worlds cheaper there then here unless you will have medical insurance when you get here.

Good luck and get well

oh yeah and GET to the doctor!

Here's a limerick I found:

My mind has been blown before

But this is the ultimate score

Young Aussiewenches's bare bum

And her hubby's hot gun

Now something is sure to be sore!

Monique already covered it, but just what I was going to say too. Had this happen once myself and freaked out. Called the hospital, and they told me to come in to be sure, but in order for me to settle down right THEN she said that if the blood is bright red, it's PROBABLY nothing to worry about too much...she said the darker the blood, to where it gets almost black looking ,the more dangerous as that means internal,etc...so yeah, get checked, but I bet you're ok...

and PS... thanks... ;) M.

Fresh blood per ####### means the source of bleeding is close to the opening. Common are hemorrhoids or ####### fissure (####### tear). Since it's dripping, more likely hemorrhoids.

How did I miss this thread for so long?!

I used to own a natural food store and cafe--I can testify that one of people's favorite things to talk about is their poop & this thread just proves it! (sorry, couldn't help a little giggle).

Wenchie: ditto those who say get thee to a doc. And do it in Australia---you'll really s h i t when you see what these tests cost us mere mortals over here. I just dropped $400 last week on 2 Dr visits (clear for skin cancer--yay! And that was just the office visits).

Anyway, back to the poo. Fiber is your friend, my friend. Try porridge oats for breakfast (great dieting help too) and +2 liters of water daily. and cut the caffeine, just on irritation principle. And less sitting. :)

Same goes for you miss anya-d. I've got the same no-insurance problem as you, but I can also tell you, the longer you let something go, the more expensive it will get. See if you can't find a female doctor & you might be more comfortable. You will need a gynecologist for annual exams anyway, so start doctor shopping. :)
