Hi everyone,

I have a question that may have been answered somewhere somehow on this forum but a fresh answer could be just what the doctor ordered.

My wife, a USC and I had applied for the I-130 and received an approval on Sept 9. After this we were prompted to pay for the affidavit of support which we did online on Sept 20 and as of today we received confirmation of payment and all that other good stuff.

Now comes the part where I believe we have to fill out the I-186 and send in the the rest of the paper work that comes with it.

But the issue is that my wife is currently a grad student and does not meet the criteria listed to act as my sole sponsor so we have sought the help of a willing family friend. In order to make my application successful could some one please list out the documents she will have to enclose with her I-186 as well as the documents my co-sponsor will have to send along with her I-186 ie assuming she will also need to fill one out. I heard about an I-186A what is that form and where is it required?

On my part as the beneficiary I read from this forum that I will be filling out and sending forms DS-230 and the DS3032 along with documents I have long since gotten ready. My question at this point is with respect to the forms, can I go ahead and fill these forms out generating my bar code before I print them out to send. Or should I wait for the ones that NVC will send me if they are going to send any? We are trying to anticipate the steps we are to follow, so as to cut the processing time short as you can imagine.

Thanks

Lars is correct...you mean the I-864.

Have a look at the link in my signature, as well as the Guides and the Wiki at the top of this page.

Look at Loto's guide, and James' Shortcuts. Between my guide and their guides, you should have a very clear picture of the process at NVC (National Visa Center).

After you've read through them, come on back and ask whatever questions you have. We're here to help.

Good Luck

thanks LING LING,

your link helped, but here is the weird thing, we were send the AOS bill before anything else! This was promptly paid and we received the bar code sheet or the NVC cover sheet . Having read other posts i am confused. My wife has started putting together the docs for the I-864 and filling out the form. With all this incongruity I am stumped as to what to do about my forms DS3032 and DS 230.

Appreciate your earlier assistance, can you help with this?

Thanks
