hi - i am a canadian fiance wanting to visit my other half for the weekend. is this okay?

does the customs officer need to know that you are visiting your fiance?

The customs officer does not care. Everyone is subject to refusal. The more information that causes the immigration or border post officer to believe you are at risk of not returning to Canada, increases your chance of denial.

YMMV

So can I just tell him I am going for a short vacation to visit friends? I am coming back. I have a return ticket, employment letter, etc. etc.

well I am still waiting for my NOA2 and have already booked a flight to Texas for Christmas and new year, this might even delay me sending back my packet 3.

I am just going to tell the immigration if asked, that I am visiting my boy so not lieing, I am not saying friend but also not telling them fiance, but if they ask I will be totally honest with them

I will have my return ticket, a letter from my employer confirming my employment and date that they expect me back, I will also take copies of all forms that I have submitted in the K1 process, a copy of my noa 1 and if received my NOA2

It is a risk but I think one worth taking so I can spend the holidays with my fiance, you are never guaranteed entry on visa waiver

Go have fun just think how you would feel if you did not go.........................

If you're worried about getting stopped at the border/by customs, you can always bring proof/evidence of your ties to Canada that will show that you will be comming back to Canada  But, I see that you have mentioned these things. Good Luck!

Say boyfriend. Like "I'm visiting my boyfriend for Christmas and new year". If they ask if he is your fiancé, say the truth, but for a short period like holidays you might not have this kinda question.

An employment letter is one of the best proof of ties to Canada you can bring pedia. I'd say you're going to visit a boyfriend. That's the truth. Each Border Official has the discretion to allow you in or not to the US. They're concerned about people coming into the country and then not leaving.

I just saw this thread, after having answered your PM, so didn't know when I replied that you were from Canada.

Don't forget to get more information that's specific to Canada/ US visiting, the whole visa process, Consulates etc. as well as food ;) here:
