I am self empoyed as far as tax purposes due to getting 1099'ed. However, I work for two boats, (well one now since the other won't return to C.R. this year. One has been a summer program here in MD, which just this july started paying me as a regular employee (will get W2 next year). The other has been a winter program in Costa Rica for the past 3 years. Before that I've been on assorted boats in different locations and have always payed taxes as self employed. Will be free lancing again this winter.

My question!

Under employment. Should I put self employed out of MD and C.R from 2000 to present on the first line? With no address? Then follow it with the two previous boats listed in order, with one being until present and one having finished in May of this year.

Or is that getting too complicated and all I really need is to put under----

Employer: Self Employed

Occupation: Mate/Captain

From:2000

To:Present time

and leave it at that. Thanks again

I doubt it matters much but I would do as you have written... You are employed by yourself, and have maintained one job eventhough you have worked at different locations.

YMMV
