Okay, I will admit I only read the very first post and then some of these here on this page.

Here's one:

Have any of you ever heard of or were lucky enough to catch the two short seasons of Twitch City on CBC?

Our illustrious Molly Parker and brilliant Don McKellar starred in a show about a guy who never left his Toronto apartment.

It was genius!

A quirky show as only Canadians can do it.

I (L) Canada!

I do remember that show... never "got it" though.. was over my head I'm afraid!

oh wait! I remember a show..I don't remember if it was Canadian or not. I used to watch it after Blossom often. It featured a teenage girl whose father would talk to her through this glass box  It was like he was re-incarnated in the box and his voice was very robotic. So many things I can't remember from my childhood. It really befuddles me.

"...My hair's mostly wind,

My eyes filled with grit

My skin's white then brown

My lips chapped and split

I've lain on the prairie and heard grasses sigh

I've stared at the vast open bowl of the sky

I've seen all the castles and faces in clouds

My home is the prairie and for that I am proud…

If You're not from the Prairie, you can't know my soul

You don't know our blizzards; you've not fought our cold

You can't know my mind, nor ever my heart

Unless deep within you there's somehow a part…

A part of these things that I've said that I know,

The wind, sky and earth, the storms and the snow.

Best say that you have - and then we'll be one,

For we will have shared that same blazing sun." - David Bouchard

Hi CherylandRichard,

Lol...I remember that song too, and I think it went something like this (lol...I'm typing this based on memory, so correct me if I'm wrong):

"Don't you put it in your mouth. Don't you stuff it in your face. 'Cause it's not good to eat, not like a muffin or a beet. If you don't know just what it is, don't put it in your mouth!..." And it had singing puppets in the commerical too.

I think it was by a government/non-profit group called "concerned children's advertisers", or something like that, that sponsored this commercial.

They also did that "Drugs, drugs, drugs, which are good, which are bad. Drug, drugs, drugs, ask your Mom or ask your Dad..." commerical too.

Lol...yeah, those Canadian commericals always made me  too...

Ant (Reminiscing in old Canadian commercials/theme songs... )

what was the commercial that told kids not to eat things they find laying around? it was a song, that always made me laugh

Hi Everyone,

By the way, does anyone here remember a show called "Take Part". It was a Canadian children's show, that taught kids how to do arts and crafts, cook, do magic tricks, tell jokes, etc. Then there was also a spin-off show called "Tell-A-Tale Town", which taught kids how to read and tell stories. These were shows that were in the late 80's/early 90's or so on YTV....

Both shows were based in Vancouver, B.C. (lol...their postal code...V7L 4L3, I still remember, yet I don't even remember my own postal/zip code at times....), and hosted by "Lois and Herb Walker" and a funny cast of other adult characters (Mr. Twister, Mark with his recycle-cycle, Mark the magician, Royal Plant the artist, Pam the cook, etc.)...

I found both of these shows kind of interactive, as it had a lot of good ideas for kids/children to experiment and try out...

Anyone else remember these "interactive Vancouver-based" children's tv shows?

Ant (Reminiscing in Canadian "interactive" children's tv shows...)

Hi Nevada,

By the way, here's how the rest of the song goes (again, from memory):

"There was an artist one day, who said we'd all throw away, so much trash it would soon reach the sky. He thought now 'I'll do my part, recycle junk into art, I'll just collect what I want and then try'. The artist jumped on his bike, you'll try it too if you like, then maybe the garbage won't be so high. Recycle-cycle, coming down the road. Recycle-cycle, your adventure load. Recycle-cycle, throw it into a bin. Recycle-cycle, and use it over again!"

Lol...ok...now here's the take part song (again, from memory):

"Take part. Call your Father and your Mother. Call your Sister and your Brother. To come take part, take part in the fun, take part. Send the message to your cousin, bring your info by the dozen. (something, something, oh gee, now I'm forgetting the lyrics...). Come take part in the fun. Take part!"

Ant (Singing and "Taking Part"... )

I loved take part.

Recycle cycle...coming down the lane.

Hi CherylandRichard,

Ok, the castle show you're thinking about is probably "Eureka's Castle". It was a TVO kid's show that ran in the early 90's. Yes, there were characters that lived in a sewer, one was orange, one was pink (sorry, I don't exactly remember what their names were, but I think it was "quagmire" and "bog", someone please correct me here). Other characters on the show were: "batley" the bat, "eureka" the troll/elf-like creature that owned the castle, some worms, and a giant that turned the handle of the castle to make it work, .

The theme song went something like this (again, from memory): "Eureka...Eureka's castle...Eureka's castle...(something, something...). Let us Eu-re, Eu-re, Eu-re, 123....Eureka's castle!"

By the way, anyone else remember a TVO's children's shows around the same 80's/90's time period called: "pinwheel", "free to fly", "zardip's search for health", "deke wilson's adventures", and "bookmice"? "Bookmice" was filmed in Toronto, actually, at a library downtown, and the mice puppet characters were "Norbert, Zazzi, and Leon". As well, anyone remember "Are you afraid of the dark?" from YTV?

Yes, "Dudley the Dragon" is Canadian. "Sally" and "Matt" were the kids on the show, and "Dudley" was a big dragon, and there was "Mr. Crabby Tree", and some other character dressed as a pilot (I can't remember her name, but the actress also played Aunt Hetty in "Road to Avonlea"). As well, there was another kid later on (I forgot her name on the show, but her name in real life was Annick), who also played a minor role on Lamb Chop's Play Along (an American show).

The theme song went like this (again from memory): "Can you walk a dragon? Yes we can! Can you shout like a dragon? Yes we can!...(something something, forgetting here..)..The adventures of Dudley the Dragon!"

Oh gee, look what you all got me started on remembering ...I realize I have useless trivia about Canadian children's show in my head now..lol...

Any other questions? Lol...another trip down memory lane?...
