I absolutely loved Camp Cariboo!

"I've got a head like a ping pong ball!"

All of those shows listed were great!

And the Telefrancais...we were forced to watch that in public school in french class... (I'm at work, so I can't play the sound, but I still remember the theme ) Bonjour, Allo, Saluuuuuuuuut

And how about "The Edison Twins" I loved watching that as well. Gosh I miss good 'ole Canadian TV

This is great!!

I loved Todays Special!!

So funny that Shane used to babysit you!! I was a Degrassi fan. Remember the Zit Remedy song? "Everybody wants something"... so cheesy!!

I went to see a comedian one night back home and he was comparing Degrassi to BH 90210- and how everyone on BH was so pretty and perfect compared to Degrassi, then he starts singing the theme song "Wake up in the morning, holy f#ck I'm ugly." It was funny!

Remember the short cartoons- Barbapapa or the Toothbrush family?

I don't know any of those, but my wife and I will be getting the "watch a lot" Telus TV package. The only U.S. channel I'll really miss is The History Channel. I know Canada has History Television, but it's nowhere near as entertaining.

One thing I don't understand is... where's HBO? Showtime? Cinemax? Starz? The commercial-free movie channels on Telus aren't ones I'm familiar with at all.

Look up, look waaaaaay up! :D

You know what's pretty cool...I saw Mr. Dressup on the Go Train on my way into Toronto. He sat in the 4 seater across from where I was sitting, and when he came on the train in Pickering, I seemed to turn into the little child that used to watch him. Sat up straight, hands folded in my lap.

I'll never forget that. He passed away not too long after that.

Best time on Mr. Dressup was when Casey and Finnegan were there. I thankfully got to enjoy that time of Mr. Dressup :)

Hi Everyone,

Hey, speaking of Canadian tv shows, does anyone else remember the following Canadian children's tv shows too:

-Mr. Dressup (remember the puppet characters of truffules, chester the crow, annie, grannie, alex, etc. and the costumes Mr. Dressup (Ernie Coombs) would dress in)

-Under the Umbrella Tree (Singing: "...your friends are waiting under, under the umbrella tree...", remember the characters of holly, gloria the gopher, iggy the iguana, jacob the blue jay)

-Canadian Sesame Street (later renamed Sesame Park) (featured Canadian characters such as bazil the polar bear, jodie the pilot, and louie the French-Canadian weasel)

And of other Canadian tv shows:

-Road to Avonlea

-Royal Canadian Air Farce

By the way, that show that someone mentioned about the newspaper and the kids on the bus, is that "You Can't Do That

on Television?" (Alanis Morisette was on that show I think also)?

As for the "Dear Aunt Agnes" theme song, I think it went something like this (please correct me if I'm wrong here, as I'm singing this from memory):

"Dear Aunt Agnes, remember. You said you'd help me, now off I go. My job has taken me far away to let the children just want to be good. If you can stay can you come and stay and be the best aunt a girl ever had. Dear Aunt Agnes, Dear Aunt Agnes, won't you come and stay".

I think the part of "Aunt Agnes" was played by someone name "Heather Conkie"....

And I think the "Camp Caribou" song went like this (again, from memory):

"There once was a time when I just didn't know what to do. Then I found a place my friends called camp carribou. Now I do the camp carribou boogie, the camp caribou booogie. Oh yeah. The camp carribou boogie. The camp caribou boogie, won't you come camp caribou boogie with me. Camp caribou"

I think the hosts of that show were "Mark" and "Tom". They also played "the keener" and "uncle tom" side characters too.

As for "Degrassi", did you know that they now have a spin-off of that show called "Degrassi: The Next Generation?" Lol...not as good as the original though (Degrassi High and Degrassi Junior High).....

And yeah I learned about "pineapples" from watching "Telefrancais" in school for french class too..lol...

Lol..as you can see I watched too much tv growing up. Oh the Canadian tv information/trivia that I have in my head now..lol...

Let's see how many Canadian shows and/or theme songs we can name on this message thread about Canadian TV. Oh what fun that is, indeed! There's so much to talk about this topic. Yup, Canada certainly has it's own distinct culture when it comes to television, indeed.

By the way, do any of you that are now in the USA still have Canadian tv and/or get Canadian tv stations and/or shows?

Ant (Missing Canadian tv...oh the memories of Canadian childhood/youth!...)
