Hi,

The U.S. Embassy Bogota includes in their SPANISH instruction pages to k-1 interviewees that they should come prepared to pay a 400.00 fee in case the Petioner (me) hasn't already done so.

My fiance and I were confused by this because the ENGLISH pages available online make reference to a fee of 130-something dollars as well as medical exam etc. fees.

I'm guessing the SPANISH page is referring to the original I-129 fee of 455.00 but not sure.

Has anyone run into this and know what the page is talking about?

Tx

The confusion comes that the "K" visas are processed by the immigrant visa unit of the consulate. They sometimes combine the immigrant fees on the same page as the "K" fees and instructions.

If you were seeking an immigrant visa it would cost $400 each and paid locally (this is in addition to any petition fees paid to the USCIS). You do NOT pay this if you are seeking a "K" visa.

The $455 was the petition fee you paid to the USCIS.

The non-immigrant K-1 visa fee is $131 each and is paid locally. In addition there is a fee for the medical paid to the clinic.

The Embassy does not take payment for its Visa fee. You do this at any of the approved banks. Before the interview.

Much luck!

Right, and an immigrant visa fee is always paid through NVC unless it's a DCF case.
