I have managed to keep our applications on the normal track until now and I am finally baffled.

You will see the K1 timeline from my signature, made AOS, EAD and AP app in November. AP has been approved. And not another peep from USCIS until today when I get my AOS interview scheduled for March 08. I am delighted of course but not sure if things are happening in the correct order.

The thing is I am desperate to get to work but have not received any biometric appointment or any indication on the EAD application.

If anyone has input or advice on action I should take, please do not hold back, thanks

I wouldn't sweat it. Once you have your interview and are approved, you will get your passport stamped with I-551. That will grant you work authorization, so you won't need the EAD. Good luck!

I have seen some VJers who went to their AOS interviews without biometrics completed yet, so you are not alone.

Have you had your AOS fingerprinting done already? If not, then you probably will not get your approval during the interview. Hopefully, your interviewing officer will give you an fingerprinting date/appointment so that your case will continue to be processed. They will still need to run fingerprint/name check before they can approve your application.

You will be eligible for an interim EAD end of Feb -- I would make an INFOPASS appointment, and ask about it. Most likely you'll find out that EAD is pending biometrics, and most offices will give you a biometrics appt same day (bring all NOAs and they may do both AOS and EAD biometrics). If this works, you will get biometrics taken before the interview, and may get approved sooner rather later. Long shot, but worth a try.

09-02-2005 Applications for AOS, EAD, and AP received by MSC

10-21-2005 AOS fingerprint notice for 12-08-2005

11-07-2005 AP approved

12-05-2005 Infopass appt at San Jose office for interim EAD -- Refused, because it is already approved by MSC on 11-07-2005

12-07-2005 Attempt at interim EAD at San Francisco office -- no go. Back to San Jose, where CSO (chief station officer) tells they will contact MSC via email to request permission to issue interim EAD

12-08-2005 Biometrics for AOS and EAD. Having no EAD appt letter was no problem (used EAD NOA)

12-15-2005 EAD arrived in the mail

12-24-2005 Received interview letter; interview scheduled 03-01-2006

01-28-2006 Received replacement SSN card in married name (5 wks since application)

03-01-2006 AOS interview -- approved; received stamp in the passport

03-13-2006 Green card arrived in the mail
