Hello to all VJers

I a have a question about the interview to adjust status thru marriage, my husband and I have an appointment to adjust his status next month. I have a passport as prove of US citizenship, but I seem to have lost my Naturalization certificate. Would the US passport be enough?

I don't know what to say..we just got out interview notice and there is stated that my husband should bring along the naturalization certificate...did you check what is on the list that they sent with the appointment letter? I don't see why the passport wouldn't be enough as you couldn't have gotten it with out being a citizen...but you never know...

Btw...did you sumbit your proof of citizenship with the file when you first sent it to the lockbox? Maybe that should do it!

GOOD LUCK!!

Thanks for all the quick replies. The interview letters only said bring proof of citizenship. On the forms submitted to lockbox I used copies of my passport. I did have a continuance page telling them I would get a replacement Certificate , but the interview letter came sooner than expected.

You do not need your naturalization certificate. Take your US passport with you at the interview as it serves as an equivalent of Naturalization certificate. I went through two interviews and even through it said that i needed naturalization certificate, US passport does the same thing.

You do not need to wear a suit, just nice shirt/blouse/sweater and nice slacks. Do not wear jeans. Just make sure your look is clean business casual. Good luck

All my sister used was her U.S. passport as proof of citizenship for her husband's interview.

Dress business casual. A dress pant rather than a jeans and a good shirt. Don't wear a suit.

Hi, just to add--I only showed my US passport which was enough for the interview, however I also took my Naturalization Certificate too because when I filed for the K-1 for my husband, the IO wouldn't accept my US passport as enough proof of me being a US citizen. I then had to *waste* several hundred dollars in acquiring my certificate (I was under 18 when I became a US citizen so I became naturalized through my parents) and I then submitted this with the K-1 and the AOS packet. However, like stated above, the US passport was enough proof during the interview.

Just to note: I wore jeans to our interview and it was fine! I did have a dressier top on so maybe that helped. I did see a lot of people dressed in business casual attire too though.
