I was checking my case status online today and i found this:

Application Type: I485, APPLICATION TO REGISTER PERMANENT RESIDENCE OR TO ADJUST STATUS

Current Status: REQUEST FOR INITIAL EVIDENCE SENT, CASE PLACED ON HOLD

On September 19, 2008, we mailed a notice requesting initial evidence in this case. Please follow the instructions on the notice to submit the evidence requested. Meanwhile, processing of this case is on hold until we either receive the evidence or the opportunity to submit it expires. Once you submit the evidence requested and a decision is made, you will be notified by mail. If you move while this case is pending, please use our Change of Address online tool to update your mailing address.

Just to have peace of mind...what this means? is it like a normal procedure?! ...what do they ask for??

This is an RFE notice (for your I-485) - expect the details in a letter. (They need something from you before they can proceed.)

Yes..you'll receive a letter soon..and in there it will state what they need from you..

No need to worry. This is a pretty normal procedure. They need something from you, maybe a tax return or a W-2.. or a birth certificate. Once you do receive it and reply to it with appropriate documents, case processing resumes. Don't stress out on this.. this is normal

I have got a REF, they don’t recognize my marriage certificate so I had to get married again in court of MI in USA, I had send this certificate to them 3 times they did not receive it, I am worried what do I do?

Any special way or form I need to use to reply to the REF?

It means that something was missing from your submission of the AOS forms and they can't process your application without it. I wouldn't call it normal (since most people don't get an RFE), but it's nothing major as long as you respond to it and provide them with whatever they ask for in the time allowed. Once they receive it, your case processing will resume.

Most RFE's are for:

-Financial (I-864) including w-2's, tax return, pay stubs, employment letter

-Medical (I-693) including vaccinations, signed form, new vaccines, etc

I would look at the AOS guide and see that you didn't miss anything. If you did, this may be the thing they are asking for. Get it ready to go when you receive the letter, you can turn around and send it right back to minimize the delay on your approval.

For example, if you didn't include any tax returns, get them copied or request tax transcripts now, so you will have them ready when the RFE hardcopy arrives.
