It took us 14 months to have our NOA2..it can be due to pending FBI name check...After 6 months my hubby contacted a congressman and thats the time we knew that it was pending on FBI name check..

Hello there, I am awaiting my NOA2 as well. People could probably help you a little more if you fill in your timeline on your folio. I spend hours n this website, I noticed for Canada anyways, people seem to be closer to the 6 months before the NOA2 sometimes longer. I have come across as four months on occasion. Don't panic yet. If you fill in your timeline it will give you an estimate of when you MIGHT receive your NOA2, but that's not the law just an estimate based on people filling in their timelines on here. Correct me if I am wrong everyone? We just figured we wouldn't be seeing ours till February. At least if it comes earlier it will just be a bonus! Take care, and good luck.

Unfortunately, it's hard to say what it could be. 6 months to process seems to be a little long, especially for Vermont. When you don't hear anything, it's tough not to speculate.

At this point, it's best to contact them to inquire about it. Otherwise you'll make yourself sick with worry. You may have to wait a few days. I called USCIS once and was told to wait 6 months, too. Considering that they don't want you to inquire for 6 months, it indicates that a 6-month waiting period is not untypical.

Can they deny you? Sure. But they won't deny you just for the heck of it. At this stage in the process, you'd have to knowlingly lie on your application or not meet their criteria for them to deny you. They also might deny you if you've been convicted of certain crimes, though my knowledge is a little fuzzy on that.

Provided you've met all their requirements to file for a visa, have a clean record, and have been truthful, I wouldn't worry too much about a flat-out denial. You might get an RFE (request for evidence) where they ask for more detail and documentation about a certain aspect of your application, but I'm not sure when they send those out. Ultimately, it might just be sitting on somone's desk under a stack of newspapers or it's hung up on a particular step in their internal process.

HI, I've been waiting since Feb 28 and I did talk to an immigrations officer on the phone yesterday...It's not a 6-month wait. They will refer back to the processing time on the website and that states Feb 1 for VSC--that's 7 1/2 months. I asked if there was any issue noted on my file and she said there wasn't, it was just in processing. It can't hurt to call but don't be dissappointed at the 6 month timeline when you call and they refer you back to the website again.
