Packet 3 Documents

I am planning for my wife to personally go to Mumbai for submitting the packet 3 instead of waiting for embassy's snail mail. I have been reading what documents to submit but want to confirm my understanding as I have seen varied response.

Documents that need to be submitted:

1. DS-230 Part 1 only

2. DS-2001 - Applicant Readiness Form

3. Application Statement (last page of K-3 documents checklist)

4. Passport sized photo attached to DS-230 Page 1

5. Certified Photocopy of Beneficiary's passport

For #3 - Do I need to include the checklist in addition to the form? If so, did you all ensure that you had all documents before submitting Packet 3 documents as collecting PCC can take time?

For #4 - Does the photo get attached to DS-230 Page 1 or DS-2001 or Application Statement?

For #5 - Is it OK if I include the whole passport's copy instead of just biographic pages?

Am I missing anything?

Note: Some of the users have mentioned that they have only submitted DS-230, photo, and biographic pages of all passport. Are other documents really required?

Hey Siyaram,

Thats the best way to submit the packet 3 personally if its not too much of a hassle. I did the same thing, but I am in Mumbai already. Do remember, that the consulate is open from 9 to 11.30 only, and also check for the holidays on the consulate website.

Your check list looks perfect, just make sure you attach your photo to the DS-230 on the top.

Make sure your wife also carries the approval letter you got from the National Visa Center. It has an important number on it, the INS RECEIPT NO. and the CASE NO.

No need to include the checklist, thats only for your reference. It doesnt matter if you have all the documents right now.

PCC (both ) takes atleast 2 months.

Your photo gets attached to the big block on the top of form DS-230

Why would you want to include the whole passport copy, just the first and last page is required.

Siyaram, are you going the CR1 route? I was not aware the DS 230 is required for the K3 when submitting package 3

zidane, I am going to try both routes. If its only a matter of 15 or so days, I will go for CR1 else will stick with K3.

DS-230 Part I is required to be submitted after Packet 3 is received. Check the embassy website in Islamabad. It should tell you what packet 3 would contain. Each embassy has different document requirements.
