:help: I Filed the I-130 Petition for my mother who lives in Jamaica, but for myself I live in the United States for about 10 years now and is a U S Citizen. I mail the I-130 form in September on the 13, 2008 and they recieved it on September 15,2008 at the Chicago IL, a week later ( September 22, 2008) I recieved a letter stating it's a receipt notice with my Receipt # on it to check the status online about my form, It also stated that my form is now at the USCIS California Service Center.

My question is What is the next step in helping my mother to come to the U S and how long now will I have to wait now to received another letter from them? Do anyone think that before the end of this year December 2008 they will send a letter to me asking for the I-864, Affidavit of Support for me to send it in to them, Plus how many bills will I also received from them to pay?

HELP HELP!!

Base on the time line here in VJ, it takes 6 months for USCIS to approve a I130 then 2 months again fod NVC to process it. I think the bills that you will get would be from NVC and it cost $75 and another $355 for the Immigration visa processing . Read the link below

hi... i mailed the 130 prtition for my mom feb 21 2008, vermont service center... it was approved on may 10, 2008 at VSC (almost 3 months)... a week after the approval, it was sent to NVC and was assigned an NVC number... everyday after that i kept calling the nvc number to hear the auto message... i paid the fees online... and sent forms a day after it's generated... i did the james shortcut...i think there is a link here on the james shortcut... last august, mom received the interview appointment letter... interview was on sept 18 and was approved the same day... she received her visa yesterday... the whole process took about 7 months... and that includes the two rfe's NVC sent me... so if there is no rfe, i think the process would have taken 5months... each rfe we had had taken about a month (from the time i sent it to the time they processed it)... so it was pretty fast for us... of course it also depends on how fast your service center approves the petition

i don't think that just because the petitioner is a US citizen that they process the petitions first... i think they process the petitions in the order they receive them... but being a US citizen certainly makes the whole process faster when petitioning immediate relatives as there is no wait time for an immigrant visa to be available.... if VSC (as they say the very slow center) approved my mom's petition in 3 months then it is highly possible that yours would be approved at CSC in about the same time or less, since they said CSC is way faster than VSC when it comes to approvals...considering also that your case is straight forward and no other complications

I'm going to petition for my Mom in the Philippines but my birth certificate has some error which is the birth order. I'm afraid that this will affect my petition.

Does anyone has same experience?

Don't you think the birth order error can take affect my petition?

Do I need to get this corrected before I can petition my Mom?

Did your Mom had an interview?

I hope somebody can help..

Thanks

Could you please tell me w/ I-130 what should I send?

1. Money order $355

2. Form I-130

3. My birth certificate (copy)

4. Certificate for naturalization (copy)

Is there anything else recommended to send? Do the copies need to be certidied copies? Also, were you the agent or your mom recived her mail. I am trying to find out if is safe enough I to be my moms agent and receive all her mail. She doesn`t speak English and not so good w/ computer. Have you tried the shortcuts.....?

Yes, I did 1,2,3,4 and copy of mothers passport first page with her name (just in case). Everything was just regular copies (NOT certified). And Yes, I was my moms agent. I sent them DS 3032 After my petition was approved and NVC received it and generated form for choice of agent. Also as soon as your petition will be approved ask your mother get the police certificate and send it to you together with her original Birth Certificate, Original Marriage/Divorce Certificate etc and form DS 230 with her signature.

Good luck!

Could you please tell me,

Why do I need her original certificates. I thought I need to send by mail only copies, or certified copies of the certificates and of course the forms w/ her signature. (Not copy) and at the intervew she needs to show them the originals. Please correct me where I am wrong

Thank you very much, I really apreciate your advice

original documents or certified copies of the documents. certified copies it is Identically copies from an original place where you got original document. And the problem is that there will be different number on the document. I got RFE from NVC because I did not send them my original Birth Certificate and Marriage Certificate with my mom's DS 230. They approved my case only after they received my original documents also.

And on the interview they will return all original docs to your mom.

Oooohhhh,

I didn`t have any idea they want to see the originals. Can I send a copy of my birth certificate w/ stemp and signature from agency here that this is true copy of the original. Would this do it? I am sorry, I am so scared to send them my original birth certificate.
