I should probably then let my husband know he's one of those "fringe" elements. Considering he's Mr. Conservative he'll find that interesting!

Well not only the article, but this thread illustrate the inherent danger of drawing conclusions based on assumptions deliniated by stereotypes. It's a crock and most people know it.

Deliniated? Maybe that should be difined? Anyway, the point is, if you use stereotypes to create a narrative on the political landscape you're going to tie yourself up in self delusional knots!

I wonder if the fact that they are self dellusional makes them in fact non existant? Maybe the knots are not there either? Maybe it's always better to refrain from a post containing too many metaphors

People have the right to vote how they feel in regards to the Presidency, as ignorant and stupid and racist as it may be.

I still maintain that this country gets the President it deserves. And thus the results it deserves.

The bottom line is though that most voters are not voting on bigotted lines and the candidates are not canvassasing based on race. Everything else is a hotch potch of rationals which are easily as numerous as there are voters. These sorts of polls tell us very little that is of use or important and I say again, most people know this stuff is a complete crock.

And as I said, it would not be surprising if there was an element of disaffected people who would be disappointed should Barack Obama fail to win the election and a minority might take to the streets and what of it? Does that make a majority of black people unable to abide by the democratic process? Does that make black people dangerous? Does that make the selection of a black candidate irresponsible? What's your point, exactly?

Again, I am not living in fear of a 'black backlash' if Obama loses the election. The majority of voters will accept the results and move on.

It's always a minority that loot, overturn cars, and generally wreak havoc.....It's a very real possibility that this may occur if these loud mouth liberals that purport to speak for all continue to bring race into the election....

Yes, I know this is an oped piece and? You are aware that I am poo pooing the idea that this is anything more than a storm in the teacups of political journalists seeking marketable perspectives on the presidential election? As such none of this ammounts to a hill of beans.

They don't speak for the Democratic party, they don't speak for democratic policy and they don't speak for the vast majority of democratic voters or supporters and they most certainly don't speak for the innumerable independants who may or may not vote democratic in this election.

And you call yourself a non-racist?

Like I hinted at earlier... wait and see if the Cubbies win the world series. Lots of white suburbanites hitting that Rush/Division area. Like they did with the Bulls champaionships. ;)
