Oil prices spiked $25 a barrel today and closed up $19.20. http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/12400801/

Ouch, bend over. Demand is down, we pay more. Demand is up, we pay more. Government intervines, market goes down, oil goes up. Now we can pay for a trillion dollar bailout and more for gas, heating oil, food etc. I say Fck these investors and let them burn in hell. Discuss.

Yep. The dollar is also ###### with the bailout.

I was starting to enjoy the few weeks of cheaper fuel..

According to the Internal Revenue Service, the 400 richest American households earned a total of $US138 billion, up from $US105 billion a year earlier. That's an average of $US345 million each, on which they paid a tax rate of just 16.6 per cent.

It's really a shame. We are getting the shaft big time. Screw the idiots who made this mess. The only ones I feel for are those whose pensions are in jeopardy. The other poor rich crybabies should get what they deserve. They drvoe up oil prices and made a fortune at our expense, and now I'm going to pay to bail them out? Please. Bush has destroyed this country.

You mean the American people who borrowed more than they could afford?

No, the idiots who lent them more than they should have on overinflated real estate values. And with payments higher than they could realistically afford. And the speculators who drove oil thru the ceiling and put a bite on the economy. Greed, just plain greed. And now we have to pay to bail them out. There is blame on both sides and greed on both sides.

No-one forced these loans down their throats. They wanted something for nothing, got screwed,

and now we're stuck with the bill.

And no one told them no either. And the banks were greedy and wanted more and more. It was in no way one sided. Regardless, we are stuck with the bill. And its going to get worse before it gets better.

I want oil prices to exceed $200/barrel. This is due to the way that most of us drive with a lack of conservation. Driving on the highway without following the speed limit. Aggressive drivers are usually the ones who consumes more gas.

Not only that, alot of people are driving SUV with just the driver inside. Gas Guzzlers! Waste of HP, space, and especially gas if it's used for anything other than cargo. Combined this with the high speed and you get a super gas guzzler.

Exactly. I liken it to a parent/child scenario: the child asks for the Earth, and it's the parent's responsibilty to say "NO." Just like the irresponsible lenders should have said "NO" to deabeats with crappy credit ratings wanting mortgages.

America's driving habits are changing. SUV sales have fallen off the map. Small car sales are up, even though auto sales are way down due to the poor economy. Gasoline use is down. Whether it stays that way remains to be seen, but America has been hit hard by the high energy prices.

So what? If they can afford it, they can drive whatever they want.

Sorry, but people aren't children and banks aren't our parents. I don't have to do what the banks tell me and they don't have to make sure I'm properly fed and clothed either.

If you want to make like an infant and go ga-ga-goo-goo, that's your problem. That's not how the world works.
