Hi

I am a canadian citizen who married an american a few years ago. We have since been divorced. I have had my permanent residency card for a few years now. I have recently gotten pregnant and my boyfriend and I want to get married and move back to canada. he is an american. So here are my questions. How do I reverse my residency to be a resident of canada since I am still legally a canadian citizen and how long will it take? How does this affect my baby when she arrives? and how does my boyfriend go about being able to work in Canada? I still have my house in Canada so we have a place to live, it's just a matter of getting jobs for money to support ourselves. Any suggestions would be helpful. Thanks.

You don't "reverse" your residency. You can abandon your residency status by living abroad (in this case Canada). Basically do nothing and you'll lose your green card status. You have to maintain your status by residing in the US with the intent to be a permanent resident.

You'll have to check with Canadian Immigration for your husband. They have their own process for permanent residency.

Your child will be a Canadian citizen if born in Canada. Your husband can file at the US consulate if you wish for the child to obtain American citizenship.

Nothing I say is legal advice. I recommend you consult a qualified immigration attorney for any questions you may have.
