Preference of Country

It seems like there are some countries that get approved way quicker than others. For instance...I have noticed that Japan gets processed quicker than any others. It seems like Australia and the UK are right around the same times which are about 4 to 5 months. I can understand that there might be some countries that have a higher amount of applications but it seems quite unfair. I mean our application seems like it is much quicker than India for instance. It makes me really sad for the India spouses because it seems like on average it takes at least 6 months. I just don't understand. There are hardly any Aussies that apply for any type of visa. Does anyone know if they have preferential treatment for certain countries? Don't get me wrong. I am happy for everyone that gets a visa but the times don't always add up. On the June thread there are a ton that have already been approved. Still waiting.... And I am even at the CSC.

Maybe its true for DCF, but I honestly believe CIS arent competent enough to organise a drinking party in a brewery let alone deal with applications in any organised manner such as prioritising by country. We are UK and our CIS approval took 8 months. I think it's probably quite random.

Can I ask whether you have statistical data or is this just an observation.

Your time line and mine are exactly the same. The only difference is that I am at VSC. I have not been touched since 16th of June and to tell you the truth I don't expect to be touched till next year.

I think it depends on the service center your application ends up at.

It is just an observation. For the June filers thread there are a ton of people who have been approved that have filed the same time I did. It makes me so sad. I don't think that it has been touched once. I changed my address online last week and I finally got a touch but I think it was just to update my address. See to me it is weird that desilu took 8 months and that there are a ton of June 2008 filers that are already approved. I don't think they are competant enough either. I look at almost everbody's timelines to try and measure when I will get mine. The timelines that VJ gives me to compare only gives me one other Aussie's to look at and they filed before me and still haven't seen a change. I don't know. Just thinking...

Filed: Country: Canada
Timeline

There is something odd with the system. My wife is from Canada and I filed her I-130 since last year, July 2007 and she just got scheduled for her appointment now for Oct. 28th. What was worse was some people filed their I-130 at the beginning or even mid of 2008 and they are where we are at. Pretty unfair I'd have to say. I am extremely happy for the people who didn't have to suffer much and their paperwork was smooth sailing but I do think it's unfair that some are left waiting for so long and others not at all. I really don't know how CIS and NVC organizes things. It's definitely not first come first serve basis, I can guarantee you that!

Worrying, remember that we suffered because of the influx of applications due to the fee increase last year. And then we got displaced by naturalization and work-related visas. Overall, USCIS got well behind because of a lack of planning on their part. And we paid the price.

But the worst seems to be behind us. Once they clear out the remaining 2007s I would hope that people will feel better or at least find that 6 months is an intolerable wait instead of the 10, 12, 14 months that seems to be the going rate for anyone who filed in the second half of 2007.

The only thing that I see that stands out to what you say is the higher risk fraud countries- but again we are in this thing now for over a year and just now having an interview - UK -

No rhyme no reason sometimes for what they do - gave up long time ago trying to figure out FIFO!

When something goes wrong remember this saying "WHEN MAN PLANS, GOD LAUGHS"
