I already submitted docments in VFS office for K3 interview last week .. but recieved the letter for interview for CR1 from NVC after i submited the documents in VFS office ..

when i called up chennai US consulate they told me " the CR1 interview nor my old case no is not updated in their system yet.. only K3 interview with new case number is showing "

Please help me out here ... which one is better?? i heard CR1 is better off ..

IF i opt for CR1 interview will it a take longer time to reach US after interview ??

You could definately tell the embassy to change your K3 interview to the CR1 interview. I would advise you to contact them via email or phone to confirm first. Also, they probably have not receive the physical CR1 case at the embassy that is why it is not in their system. With the CR1 visa you are not required to do an adjustment of status which can cost $1045 and fill out an EAD form for work authorization which is an additional fee you would have to pay. CR1 is an immigrant visa. The CR1 and the K3 interviews are similar except all the documents such as the AOS and the DS-230 package would be given to the NVC for CR1 route and for K3 you would submit the documents to the interviewer. CR1 no fees are required at the embassy but for K3 you are required to pay at the time of the interview. Once you get approved for either one of the routes you should get the visa according to the embassy's policy on to when it is given out. At the interview level one visa is not faster than the other. I would recommend the CR1 but you should check with the embassy if other info is also required for the CR1 interview. Good luck.

Yes, deffinatley ask to have the interview on the 29th changed from the K3 and interview for the CR1. After that all you have to do is sit back and wait for mail to arrive. We have done this and now our interview date is a whole 3 days earlier. I know not much but it stills feels good!!!!

Thanks a lot for the help ..

i will wait ard for 2 more days to call consulate and confirm it ..meanwhile will keep the K3 visa interview pending and cancel it once CR1 is confirmed..

NO!!!!! You DO NOT CANCEL the K3 interview.

If the CR1 paperwork gets there before the K3 interview, you get the interview changed to a CR1 interview. Although it is only 2 weeks later. My CR1 interview was scheduleed 6 weeks later than my K3 interview. So it made a huge difference to me.
