My fiancee was told by another Thai that once you got the case number (BNK) from the State Department you can send the packet 3 forms to the embassy, even though she hasn't gotten packet 3. This would cut one week from the process. Does anyone know if this is true and a good idea?

it doesn't make any sense !!!!!!!!

i think you should wait till they send you the packet 3 so you can send it back to them.

but to send it to them before they send it to you it doesn't make any sense cause they didn't reserve your petition yet so they don't know anything about your petition yet .

i could be wrong and maybe someone else will give you different answer

Good luck and my best wishes for you (F)

Nothing's impossible . Nothing's unreachable .When I am weary you make me stronger

This love is beautiful .So unforgettable . I feel no winter cold when we are together .

Will you stand by me ?!!!Hold on and never let me go .

Will you stand by me?!! With you i know i belong . When the story gets told .

When day turns into night .I look into your eyes . I see my future now .All the world and its wonder

This love wont fade away. And through the hardest days . I will never question us .You are the reason my only reason.

I'm blessed to find what i need in a world loosing hope. you are my only believe .

You make things right every time after time.....

Will you stand by me ?!!!

I love you so much and i miss you so much more .

You need to make sure the embassy has your petition before sending them the packet 3 forms (actually you send the checklist, passport photos, copy of passport, and DS 230 part 1).

For Rin, I had sent an e-mail to the embassy about two weeks after NVC received it saying she had not received the packet 3. Got a return e-mail the next day saying it had been sent out two days earlier, so we went ahead and sent the checklist, et al. The packet 3 arrived about a week later.

If you send the checklist and the embassy does not yet have the petition from NVC, then it will be discarded. There are instructions on here about finding out when the embassy receives it (although you will need to contact NVC to find out if it has been sent).

Great post! And yes, it is the same in Colombia. You don't send the embassy the forms they ask for in packet 3 until you know for sure they have your case. Sending them before that will not help you one bit. But sending them once they receive your case and before they send out packet 3 will save you weeks of waiting.
