Dear fellow friends,

I am Canadian and my boyfriend is American. I would like for us to get the ball rolling on the K-1 visa process, but I haven't read anywhere if I can visit the U.S. as a visitor while we are waiting on paperwork. It's probably an obvious answer from everybody here, but I am totally clueless. Thanks in advance for putting up with my silly questions!

Yes, you can, so long as you otherwise qualify, tell the truth when crossing the border (if questioned) and don't overstay. Once your boyfriend's petition is approved, you kinda need to be at home to get the mail from the Embassy, do whatever is needed, and show up for the interview.

Just make sure you show ties to Canada. We have a K1 in the process, we got our NOA1. I plan on bringing a letter from my employer saying I am employed, reliable, and on an approved leave. I also plan on bringing a certified copy of my property deeds. Just be honest and answer their questions.
