Aficionado you are right in the respect there are essentially two "camps" here & insults, generalizations, stereotypes, etc. have gone both ways. The point that I and many other people in my "camp" vehemently disagree with your "camp" about is that the crux of the issue is merely an ideological disagreement.

For example I disagree with Charles views, but it ends there. He doesn’t start trouble, label other posters in an attempt to denounce their position, exaggerate, stereotype and play the poor, innocent victim role. Other individuals in your “camp” do these things & more and that is why they are disliked. It has little to do with their actual views, but more to do with their poor behavior.

Like I told a forum buddy of yours you can’t smack a hornet’s nest with a bat and then cry about getting stung. My point is if you are going to engage in rhetoric, name calling, generalizations, stereotypes and insults you have lost the privilege to claim higher ground.

Not, I can't see my insults anymore than you can. I can play that game, too. I can also be a pseudo-psychoanalyst.

My opinion is that you feel that your ability to decipher an argument and to argue a point is superior to most, thus, you make demands on others that you can't meet or exceed for yourself. As to whether that necessarily makes you think you're a better person, I'm not sure. I actually think it's a little sad, I think you're one of those people who doesn't command much attention in real life and so, by continually insisting that people you feel competitive with meet arbitrary and totally subjective measurements intended to gain your approval, you try to create a bigger, better version of yourself online to help bolster your ego. Why else would you think anyone would care to cater to your artificial and self-serving demands? If you fail to see the point of a post, who should you expect to be your crutch when you can't keep up on your own? It's you who needs to save your face, no one else.

No one else I know is trying to make out they are some kind of logic genius and I only wind you up because you keep trying to define yourself as the final arbitor of coherence and pretending to be above it all. It's such a desperate self promoted effort with no basis in truth. You haven't earned the credibility to demand logic and coherence, that's because you haven't offered any evidence that you can discern it for yourself. I see your ego unravelling a bit when challenged and that's exactly when you began your transparent pretense that you know how someone feels, how defeated they are, when you can't deliver half of what you exprect from those who confront. You need to earn the respect you seek, not pretend that it's just owed to you. There's nothing so special about you that anyone needs to jump thru hoops for. You're just one of a miserable group of pretenders.

The thing is - BY isn't really part of a "camp", much as he wants to associate himself with one. This is someone who doesn't believe in absolute free speech, thinks that the constitution is a nice-to-have, thinks that people who complain ought to move out of the country, that 3rd world famine can be resolved simply by having the people move to where the food is. He's also a self-declared Federalist - who ironically enough supports the concept of a national ID card. Oh - and he also thinks Saudi Arabian justice (preferably with him in a black hood wielding the whip) is the solution to crime in the US.

Bearing all this in mind - he says "if I could vote I'd probably support Barack Obama".

There's more twists, turns and illogical contradictions in his views than a bag of snakes.
