Hi all,

A bit of a bizarre question..........we are currently in the process of applying for the K-1 visa and my fiance (US citizen) would like to use our marriage to change his middle name..........!

Doesn't worry me if he does but I am just wondering if this will cause any problems/hold-ups when it comes to adjusting my status down the track.............just thinking since all our other paperwork etc will be in one name and the marriage certificate will show a new middle name.

Any thoughts?

Thanks!

Some English guy once said, "What's in a name? Would a rose by any other name smell just as sweet?"

Sure he can change his name, but I wouldn't think that during your visa journey is the best time for it.

You're giving up your country and all things that are familiar to you, to be with the man you love.

I think he can wait until after you've at least adjusted status, to change his middle name.

Have him wait til after the process. He will have to go to court to have it approved and stating a reason because of you... and you not being there might look a bit unusual. Not to mention the application going through with him having different names...crazy. Just wait till after to prevent any possible problems. Remember the USCIS can do what they want and for any reason they choose.
