It's called 'hunting'. Urban slaves wouldn't know about this though.

Meet the food chain..... guess who's on top.

"The fact that we are here today to debate raising America’s debt limit is a sign of leadership failure. It is a sign that the U.S. Government can’t pay its own bills. It is a sign that we now depend on ongoing financial assistance from foreign countries to finance our Government’s reckless fiscal policies."

Senate Floor Speech on Public Debt

This summer, Alaska wildlife agency personnel staked out a known wolf denning site – a practice that is illegal under Alaska law – and, using helicopters, gunned down 14 adult wolves from the air. When they landed, they found 14 helpless pups in the nearby dens – infant wolves just weeks old – and methodically shot each one in the head. 28 wolves gunned down in all.

Due to a loophole in federal law, Alaska is the only state in the U.S. where a few hunters still use aircraft to shoot wolves or chase them to exhaustion before landing and shooting them point blank. But the practice of "denning" – the killing of wolf young in the den – is prohibited even under Alaska law.

During her two years as governor, Sarah Palin proposed a $150 bounty for the severed foreleg of each killed wolf and introduced legislation to make it even easier to use aircraft to hunt wolves and bears. But it's time that Governor Palin call for a thorough investigation into the killing of these 14 wolf pups, and bring any Alaska employees who acted illegally to justice.

In some remote areas, that's the best way to hunt. I haven't met a wild carnivore who wouldn't exploit any opportunities they get to eat you.

Not an expert on carniverous behaviour then? Of course, if you believe Day of the Triffids was a true event, that might explain this statement.

Refusing to use the spellchick!

I have put you on ignore. No really, I have, but you are still ruining my enjoyment of this site. .

If she is still there after November 5th, damn right she should call for an investigation. If not, her successor should.

The hunting of predators that are not a danger to the human population is just wrong and should be made illegal. And there has not been one documented occurrence of a healthy wolf attacking a human, so that puts them firmly in the "no danger to the human population" category.

And if this is a case of humans being top of the food chain, killing the wolves would have been for food. I guess that rules that argument out then.

Hey, if the military can hunt Iraqis from the air overseas, why shouldn't outdoorsmen hunt wolves from the air right here in Alaska?

Outsiders, mind your own business.

Nevertheless, Palin is a moron. I hope she gets elected VP and gets the hell out of Alaska.

PEOPLE: READ THE APPLICATION FORM INSTRUCTIONS!!!! They have a lot of good information in them! Most of the questions I see on VJ are clearly addressed by the form instructions. Give them a read!! If you are unable to understand the form instructions, I highly recommend hiring someone who does to help you with the process. Our process, from K-1 to Citizenship and U.S. Passport is completed. Good luck with your process.

Agreed Charles. There does not appear to be a valid reason to hunt wolves unless they are destroying livestock numbers. If she is simply allowing these animals to be killed just for the hell of it then she should be deeply ashamed and held accountable.

I saw something about this a CNN about a week ago.....It was said that this is not entirely true and that this was a method of animal control, not necessarily sport hunting......

It would be interesting to see additional material on this one Kaydee. Of course the you tube video could be very biased so I will need to trawl around for some further info. In any case, what I saw on the video was downright brutal - the air strike didn't even kill in one shot. If she knows about this she should be acting on it.

Oh come on people. If you're going to criticize it, you should at least know what the issues are.

a). People like to hunt moose for food.

B). Wolves like to hunt moose for food.

c). People and wolves compete for hunting moose for food.

d). If man hunts wolves, that leaves more moose for man.

It's basic predator (wolf) control to leave more prey (moose) for another predator (man).

The people are going to kill the wolves, one way or another. The issue here is whether or not it should be done from the air. Either way, you're killing the wolves.

By the way, wolves are just another animal. If you're not against hunting moose, deer, fish, squirrels, rabbits or anything else, then wolves shouldn't present an issue for you. If you're against hunting at all - well, you've got issues.

FWIW, I'm not a hunter. I don't see what the appeal is - but man kills animals for food - has been doing it since day 1. Get over it.

By the way, the people of Alaska are constantly asked to vote on this issue. Guess what? They support it. So get over it. Mind the animals in your own state.

And yes, Palin is still a moron and I still hope she gets elected VP to get her out of Alaska.

Cheers!

Well in one campaign video, the gang of lawyers sent to Alaska to dig dirt on Palin were shown as wolves. . . no wonder she supports killing them :)

there are some people totally against hunting, there are some that support hunting only as a means to put food on the table, there are those that support hunting as a sport, and the list goes on. Its not for you to determine that people have issues if they don't support hunting in one form or another.
